Frontline discoveries. Scalable solutions. Lasting change.
About us
TIP Global Health (formerly The Ihangane Project) is achieving lasting improvements in health outcomes in resource-scarce settings of Rwanda by promoting local innovation within the existing health care infrastructure. The tools created alongside our community partners are shared with the Rwanda Ministry of Health to improve their implementation strategies. Our work in Ruli, Rwanda serves as a social innovation laboratory for creating effective and resilient local health care delivery systems. We work to enable local health care systems to cohesively integrate national mandates and community priorities. We build essential linkages between the overarching infrastructure established by governments and international entities to standardize health care, the capacity of frontline health care workers to provide effective care, and the ability of community members to absorb and translate this care into healthier lives for themselves and their families.

When artificial intelligence is developed with understanding and intention, we create space for radical change. The Patrick J. McGovern Foundation’s partnership enables TIP Global Health to expand access to health resources in underserved communities by supporting the development of an AI framework leveraging point-of-care data to deliver predictive insights that improve maternal and child health outcomes in East Africa. Thank you, Dr. Diana, for sharing such a great post and highlighting the importance of #UniversalHealthCoverageDay! At TIP Global Health, we’re committed to equitable healthcare for all. Through innovations like E-Heza Digital solution, we empower frontline workers to deliver life-saving care and close gaps for underserved communities. Together, we can: close the gap by advocating for inclusive, equitable care, strengthen systems by investing in primary healthcare and drive Innovation by scaling up digital health tools. Let’s build a future where no one is left behind. #TIPGlobalHealth #UHC #HealthForAll
Today December 12th is Universal Health Coverage Day! Access to quality healthcare is a fundamental right. Yet, half of the world’s population still lacks access to essential health services, and almost 100 million people are pushed into extreme poverty each year due to out-of-pocket healthcare costs (WHO, 2023). In Sub-Saharan Africa, 60% of the population still lacks access to basic healthcare services (World Bank, 2023), highlighting the urgent need for equitable, innovative, and sustainable health solutions. Universal Health Coverage (UHC) is not just a goal—it is a life-saving mission to ensure equitable access to healthcare for all, leaving no one behind. Here are my 3 Key Asks to Achieve UHC 1. Close the Gap: Equity in Healthcare 👉 Fact: Women and children in low-income countries are 3x more likely to die from preventable conditions (UNICEF, 2023). Ask: Advocate for inclusive policies that target the most vulnerable populations, ensuring healthcare systems prioritize gender equity, rural access, and underserved communities. 2. Strengthen Primary Healthcare Systems 👉 Fact: Investing in primary healthcare can address up to 90% of a person’s health needs over their lifetime (WHO, 2022). Ask: Support sustainable investments in community health workers, infrastructure, and affordable care. Strong primary healthcare is the backbone of UHC! 3. Accelerate Digital Innovation 👉 Fact: Digital health tools could extend care to over 400 million people currently lacking services by 2030 (World Bank, 2023). Ask: Scale up solutions like mobile health platforms and electronic health records that improve efficiency, transparency, and accessibility. Digital health solutions like E-Heza are examples of how data-driven approaches can transform health outcomes. 📢 Be Part of the Movement Join us at TIP Global Health to build resilient health systems that deliver for everyone, everywhere. Building Hope: Paving the Way for a Brighter Future As we close out an impactful year, TIP Global Health is focused on scaling innovative solutions to address pressing healthcare challenges. In Somalia, our partnership with the Banadir Primary Health Care Consortium is transforming maternal and child health with the E-Heza digital platform. By 2025, we aim to increase antenatal care by 85% and improve immunization rates by 10%, laying the foundation for a sustainable, resilient healthcare system. In Rwanda, Aheza Fortified Food Solutions is tackling malnutrition by producing fortified porridge and empowering community health worker (CHW) networks. The success in Gakenke District, where underweight rates have dropped to 6.2%, inspires expansion to other districts. From Somalia to Rwanda, our mission is to create data-driven, community-led healthcare systems that transform lives for generations. Join us in building a healthier future. #GlobalHealth #HealthEquity #BuildingForTheFuture #SustainableSolutions
