The heightened scrutiny, evolving regulations, and increased risk of audits that characterize today’s climate make robust document retention policies an urgent necessity for all nonprofits. This is especially true for those organizations that rely on federal, state, and local grants, where meticulous record-keeping is not just a best practice, but a critical compliance requirement. In this environment, where accountability and transparency are paramount, developing and rigorously adhering to a comprehensive document retention policy is no longer optional; it’s essential for safeguarding your organization’s mission and ensuring continued funding. https://lnkd.in/epnEDD9E

❗️UPDATE: Judge grants NCN's motion for a preliminary injunction to prevent unilateral federal funding freeze, a big win for nonprofits and the people and communities they serve❗️ In our case National Council of Nonprofits et al v Office of Management and Budget, represented in court by Democracy Forward, Judge AliKhan ruled today to grant our request for a preliminary injunction. The ruling states that OMB is prohibited from implementing, giving effect to, or reinstating under a different name the unilateral freeze of all new federal spending, attempted under OMB's funding freeze directive. OMB must instruct all federal agencies of the preliminary injunction. Thank you all for your support - please keep up the great and vital work of nonprofits in communities throughout the country. Much more still to come. Onward!

From May 5th-9th, Tennessee Nonprofit Network will be observing the annual Nonprofit Day(s) of Rest, an initiative designed to encourage organizations across the state to prioritize the well-being of their staff. This initiative, born from the heightened pressures of the COVID-19 pandemic, recognizes the ongoing challenges faced by nonprofits and underscores the critical need for dedicated time for restoration and rejuvenation. We invite your organization to join us in this important movement. Whether it’s a full week, a few days, or even a single afternoon, any amount of dedicated rest can make a significant difference. The Nonprofit Day(s) of Rest is more than just a symbolic gesture. It’s a call to action, a reminder that self-care is not selfish; it’s essential. Nonprofit professionals pour their hearts and souls into their work, often facing emotionally demanding situations and limited resources. This constant giving can lead to compassion fatigue, burnout, and a decline in both physical and mental health. Without adequate rest, the very people who are dedicated to serving others become less effective, less creative, and less able to sustain their vital work. https://lnkd.in/ei56uJuF
