One week ago, we successfully dosed our first Mycobacterium abscessus patient with personalized phage therapy. 🙌 Phages are viruses that precisely target and kill bacteria. 🎯 M. abscessus is a bacteria resistant to virtually all antibiotics. It took just over one year for Tolka to screen, isolate, amplify, and purify the medical-grade phages. Thanks to our investment in automation, we expect a dramatically faster turnaround for patient number two. Going from idea to treatment in one year would not have been possible without the hard work of our three co-founders, Johan Wikström, Thomas Hunt, and Volodymyr Kulchytskyi, the early foundational work of Keqing Li, as well as our world-class advisors, including Jessica Sacher, Carrie-Lynn Langlais Furr, PhD, RAC, and Ben Temperton.
