We are excited to announce Toyota Ventures’ investment in Tereform, which is focused on delivering recycled textiles at near cost parity with virgin, fossil-based materials while cutting overall emissions associated with apparel manufacturing. To bypass roadblocks in traditional textile-to-textile recycling, the company is able to chemically process mixed textiles with minimal prior separation of the materials into individual fabric types, or removal of coatings, dyes, and other contaminants. Exciting updates from our portfolio company, ALORA! They’ve developed a groundbreaking process that enhances the expression of genes found in staple crops, allowing them to thrive in high-salinity environments, including those at the ocean’s surface. This innovation has the potential to boost agricultural production while easing the strain on global resources. Read more 👇
🌾 Revolutionizing Rice: How ALORA Achieved a 2555% Yield Increase Under Extreme Heat🌡️ At ALORA, we're addressing one of the most critical challenges facing global agriculture: rising heat stress. Our breakthrough heat-tolerance trait in rice has delivered record-breaking results under extreme conditions: 🔥 44.8°C (112.6°F) temperature peak during growth 📈 +2555% yield increase under heat stress (VENUS-2 vs. standard) 🌾 Extrapolated yield: 11 tonnes/hectare under high-stress conditions 🌟 Grain quality preserved: Optimal amylose content, high head rice yield (HRY), and improved translucency Rice, a staple for billions, faces catastrophic yield losses with rising global temperatures. For every 1°C above optimal, yields decline by 10%—but we’ve turned the tide. What’s next? Our VENUS-4 and VENUS-5 lines are market-ready, while VENUS-2 and VENUS-3 are part of our 2025 Climate Ready pipeline. These innovations are poised to redefine sustainable agriculture. Find out more at: www.heatproofharvest.com 🔗 Interested in collaborating or introducing this trait to other crops? Let’s work together to secure food systems for future generations. Message me! 👏 Thank you to all of our community and investors that have helped us reach this incredible milestone!
