Loved speaking at the Atlantic Maritime Tech Conference at Newlab in the Brooklyn Navy Yard last week — a gathering of around 300 forward-thinkers exploring how technology is reshaping the maritime landscape. The maritime sector is undergoing a profound transformation, driven by the need for more sustainable practices, greater operational efficiency, and stronger security frameworks. The global maritime technology market is projected to reach $345 billion by 2030, fueled by advancements in AI, IoT, and automation. Discussions on AI-powered logistics, autonomous systems, sustainable practices, efficiency, and cybersecurity highlighted just how much potential exists to revolutionize global shipping — with AI alone expected to improve operational efficiency by up to 60% in the coming years. Thanks to my co-hosts Sean Simons, Sammie Hasen, Pete Mathias, Drew W., Ryan Musto and the event sponsors Aprio, Gunderson Dettmer, and Silicon Valley Bank. A special shout out to my panel moderator Sean Simons (twice in one month!) for bringing together an inspiring group and to my fellow panelists Jonathan Chia, Stephen Lyman, and Geoff Douglass for an insightful exchange. Also great to see TMV portfolio company Nodal Networks on stage and hear Paul Albert-Lebrun talk about how technology is reshaping ports, logistics, and infrastructure to adapt to global trade shifts. On top of that, I had the opportunity to catch up with Kenji Togasaki from Iino Lines, one of TMV’s valued Limited Partners. His presence at the event highlights the strong partnerships we’re building within the maritime and logistics ecosystem. Looking forward to what’s next as innovation continues to accelerate in this space. #MaritimeTech #InnovationInShipping #SustainableLogistics #FutureOfShipping #VCInsights Kenji Togasaki
