Let’s talk about the art of breaking up ... with bad work habits. If you need to let go of things that no longer serve you, here’s how to deliver the perfect professional breakup speech: 💔 “I think we’ve outgrown each other.” (To that never-ending project that keeps dragging on with no progress.) - If a project has become a time sink with no ROI, reassess. Ask: Is this still aligned with my goals? If not, cut the cord or redefine its purpose. 💔 “It’s not you, it’s me… wanting work-life balance.” (To those 6 AM meetings that could have been an email.) - Protecting your boundaries is a critical skill. Before accepting another early morning meeting, ask yourself: Does this require real-time collaboration, or will an email do? 💔 “I just need some space.” (To that overwhelming calendar filled with back-to-back calls.) - Your schedule should not work against you. Build in white space (and hold it on your calendar) for thinking, deep work, and recharging. 💔 “We should see other people.” (To that networking circle that no longer inspires you.) - Your network should elevate you. If your connections aren’t helping you grow, expand your circle. Seek out fresh perspectives and new opportunities. The best leaders know when to hold on and when to let go.
