🚀 Exciting News from Czech Advanced Technology and Research Institute (CATRIN) at Palacký University Olomouc! 🌟 We are thrilled to announce a significant milestone in the journey of our graphene-based material for energy storage, a breakthrough initially developed by CATRIN team. This innovative material, designed for supercapacitors and offering an alternative to traditional lithium-ion batteries, is now stepping closer to commercialization through our newly established spin-out, ATOMIVER. 🔬 Seven years ago, our researchers in Olomouc crafted an electrode material from nitrogen-enriched graphene. This material’s potential for electrical energy storage, particularly in supercapacitors, has been extensively validated, marking it as a game-changer in the field. The journey continued with the development of a prototype device showcasing unique properties under the prestigious TRANS2DCHEM project (associated with Graphene Flagship), supported by the European Innovation Council (EIC) and in collaboration with Bar-Ilan University and Itelcond. 🌍 As the demand for efficient and stable energy solutions grows globally, Atomiver is now poised to scale up production of nitrogen-doped graphene without compromising its stellar quality. Our goal? To integrate this advanced material into supercapacitors tailored for critical applications across data centers, IoT networks, transportation systems, and more. 🔋 In the lab, our supercapacitors have demonstrated a energy density of up to 200 Wh/L, with performance potential of power density reaching an extraordinary 52 kW/L. This capability significantly surpasses existing technologies and could revolutionize energy storage as we know it. 💡 Under a new licensing agreement with Palacký University, Atomiver will utilize university know-how to transform this cutting-edge technology into market-ready solutions. This collaboration highlights the importance of spin-outs in navigating the journey from research to market, bringing innovative ideas to life. 🤝 Led by CEO Andrew Hladký, Atomiver has already sparked considerable interest among commercial partners. With the support of the NATO DIANA acceleration programme and CzechInvest’s Technology Incubation program, we are eager to finalize our first investment round and establish a strong supply chain within the EU. Stay tuned as we turn advanced research into real-world solutions, driving forward the future of energy storage. #Innovation #EnergyStorage #Graphene #Supercapacitors #ResearchToMarket #Sustainability #TechForGood https://lnkd.in/etHUYbgw

📢 The Consortium’s First Joint Paper Presented at the Noordwijk Conference! At the ESA/ESTEC conference in Noordwijk, Netherlands (15-18 October 2024), our consortium proudly presented its first joint paper, focused on the commercialization of GN3 graphene material as an active electrode for high-energy supercapacitors. The presentation, titled **"Commercialization of GN3 Graphene Material as an Active Electrode for High Energy Supercapacitors,"** received a positive response and attracted significant attention from experts in advanced technology and materials engineering. 🔋 GN3: A Revolutionary Material for Supercapacitors The paper presents the outcome of years of research into graphene materials. GN3/SC-GN3 is a unique, nitrogen-doped (~16%) material with an ultra-high density (2.8 g/cm³), and its diamond-like carbon bonding structure offers exceptional properties for supercapacitor applications. GN3 can store and rapidly deliver energy – up to 200 Wh/L at a power of 2.6 kW/L and 143 Wh/L at 52 kW/L – making it suitable for a broad range of industrial applications. 👨🔬 Prototypes Moving Toward Mass Production The presentation included not only laboratory data but also the first prototypes of wound and pouch GN3 supercapacitors, which have already undergone initial characterization testing. These prototypes represent a crucial step in verifying the technological and manufacturing capabilities of GN3. The research team is now focused on qualification testing and preparing the technology for industrial production, bringing GN3 closer to commercial availability. 📈 The Future of Supercapacitors with GN3 Material GN3 has the potential to transform the supercapacitor market with its high energy density and power, supporting the development of new applications that require rapid and efficient energy delivery. The next step involves detailed testing under real-world conditions and obtaining necessary certifications so this technology can soon be commercially viable. We are excited to see GN3 approaching full commercialization and extend our gratitude to all consortium partners for their effort and collaboration on this innovative project. #Trans2Dchem #Czech Advanced Technology and Research Institute #SPCD2024 #ESAAESTEC
