Transitional Center provides innovative and creative programming geared towards promoting youth to self-reflect and take a solutions-based approaches to their own obstacles and challenges. Therapists, Case Managers and Direct Care Staff take practical and tactical steps at providing our streamlined, continuation of care approach when working with youth and families. It is our goal for both youth and families to receive care that is exemplary and delivered in a safe, dignified and supportive environment consistent with what we would desire for our own families.

Staff Spotlight 🎥 Meet Ryan Weidenbenner, LCPC, LSOTP, LSOE TCI Clinical Director for SPB Units 5 things you might not know about Ryan 1. He graduated from an all male liberal arts college, Wabash College in Crawfordsville, IN. 2. He is a big horror movie fan! (Most people who actually know me will know this) 3. He has written chapters in four different books on doing therapy with adolescents. 4. He is originally from Southern Indiana, a small town called Ferdinand, where almost everyone has a big German last name like mine. Weidenbenner is actually one of of the easier ones to spell/prounounce. 5. At the time when TCI recruited me, he was working as a school social worker in Central Illinois. What he loves about working for TCI? “I love developing the curriculum and developing the staff to better meet the needs of SPB youth.” Thanks for getting to know one of most dedicated and valued staff members!

Work trauma is real. Just a few weeks ago a black woman committed suicide because she was getting bullied at work. Several times, I've been on calls with friends who were crying because of how their managers were treating them. One of my friends had to take a few months off work due to how often one of his directors was gaslighting him. He thought he was going crazy! I've seen people lose sleep, burn relationships, suffer and from depression because of their boss. And several others quit without a backup plan because they couldn't take another day under someone's management. And like any other type of trauma, people carry it into their next roles and relationships. In January of 2023, Forbes published an article saying: According to 69% of people, their managers had the greatest impact on their mental health, on par with the impact of their partner. And this was more than the impact of their doctor (51%) or therapist (41%) This is why good management matters. YES! It can be a question of life or death in the most extreme cases. It's why we need more leaders who can manage and less "good" performers in leadership positions. Nothing impacts your life as much as your career. And your manager plays the biggest role in that.
