About us
TransitMatters is an advocacy group dedicated to improving transit in and around Boston by offering new perspectives, uniting transit advocates, educating riders and promoting a level of critical analysis normally absent from other media. We advocate for plans and policies that promote convenient and effective transportation for everyone. TransitMatters' envisions a set of six high-impact solutions to improve the transit experience for MBTA riders; solutions with positive impacts that far outweigh the cost of implementation. We must vastly improve our public transport network to work for all citizens of the Commonwealth, improving equity, mobility, air quality, and economic opportunity. Transit Matters Initiatives: - Night Bus - Regional Rail - NextGen Bus - Fair Fares - Mobility Hubs - Red-Blue Connector

Had a blast yesterday at Beyond The Core: Better Public Transportation for Suburban Communities in Greater Boston! Thank you to TransitMatters and Lexington’s own Susan Barrett for hosting and facilitating, and for all of our panelists for joining us! It was neat to learn more about the different initiatives at MBTA and how we can expand our public transportation footprint. As an Economic Developer, we must look at how we can transport more visitors, workers, and residents into and around our communities, and create more accessible pathways to do so!

I'm hope you'll join me for a celebration next week. We'll host our annual holiday on Tuesday, 12/3, at 6:30 at Lamplighter Brewing Co.- Cambridge Crossing. Get your ticket today! We have a lot to be thankful for in public transit this year. The MBTA is essentially slow zone free for the first time in decades, the Commuter Rail network is on the verge of transformation, and the T is finally joining the 21st century with a low-income fare and modern fare payment system. TransitMatters has been a key voice in pushing the T to better serve riders, while advocating for the funding and support the agency needs. From our Slow Zone Tracker to our Regional Rail campaign to our partnerships with grassroots organizations, we've had a real impact this year. I should also add that Dec. 3 is Giving Tuesday, so if you're feeling generous, we have sponsorships available that include 5 free tickets. Thanks, and I hope we can toast to success at the party!

Meet our fall #interns: Jerry, Nabiya, Ryan, and Sophia! Jerry is leading our NightBus #campaign and supporting our work with the City of Boston to expand GoHubs. Nabiya is working with the Regional Rail team on reports advocating accessibility, connectivity, and affordability on our Commuter Rail #network. Ryan is supporting our Communications Specialist with TransitMatters’ #socialmedia — you might have already seen some of his posts! And Sophia is leading our #project on transit-supportive density with Boston Indicators. Thanks for all your hard work this fall, #team!
