  • Holiday Edition! Time Warner Center – Main Entrance Interlayer: SentryGlas® Year: 2004 Architect: Skidmore, Owings & Merrill (SOM) & James Carpenter Design Associates Installer: W&W Glass & Advanced Structures Inc. Glass: Pilkington Planar™ Pilkington Architectural Glass Facade design: Enclos Structural design: schlaich bergermann partner sbp Video © Lukasz Bielawski (Instagram Account: nydaily_photos) The Deutsche Bank Center (formerly known as the Time Warner Center), one of New York's most iconic mixed-use buildings, embodies the concept of a "city within a building." Its twin glass-clad towers, connected at the podium level, host a variety of functions, including retail shops, CNN broadcast studios, Jazz at Lincoln Center concert venues, offices, luxury hotel rooms, residences, parking facilities, and direct subway access. The complex's distinctive design is a direct response to its prominent metropolitan setting. The space between the towers optically reopens the 59th Street corridor, which had been closed since the 1950s, while the podium's curving façade integrates seamlessly with the traffic circle at the southwest corner of Central Park. At ground level, the arcade of businesses creates a transparent public space, enhanced by marble floor patterns that visually extend the sidewalk and street grid into the building through its glass façade. A highlight of the structure is the multistory cable-net atrium connecting the two 55-story towers. Spanning 98 feet across and 164 feet tall, the façade uses low-iron SentryGlas® laminated glass, supported by horizontal and vertical steel tension cables, custom stainless steel patch fittings, and a massive steel truss. Inside, a secondary cable-net wall, known as the “jazz wall,” slopes inward at over 60 feet tall, providing a stunning visual backdrop for performances at Jazz at Lincoln Center with views of Central Park and the vibrant traffic circle. #DeutscheBankCenter #NewYorkArchitecture #MixedUseBuildings #CityWithinABuilding #IconicDesign #UrbanDevelopment #ModernArchitecture #NYCArchitecture #CentralParkViews #GlassArchitecture #UrbanDesign #JazzAtLincolnCenter #NYCLandmarks #CityLife

Embracing the holiday season, we’re thrilled to highlight one of our most iconic projects in Colombia: La Ventana al Mundo. Known as The Window to the World, this stunning landmark in Barranquilla, Colombia, is truly unforgettable. Its grand size is impressive enough, but it’s the vibrant color scheme that makes it truly spectacular. Located on a roundabout along Avenida Circunvalar, near the city’s industrial zone, the monument features an enormous steel and aluminum frame supporting over 2,000 m² (21,500 ft²) of colored laminated safety glass. The glass panels, arranged in a dazzling harlequin pattern of red, yellow, green, blue, and white, completely envelop the structure, creating a vibrant and dynamic façade that beautifully contrasts and complements its surroundings. #Colombia #Flashbackfriday #laminatedglass #PVB #Kuraray

  • Holiday Edition, Flagship Store, Japan Product: SentryGlas® Designer: AS Co. Ltd. (fka Jun Aoki & Associates) Architect: Peter Marino Architect Engineer: Novum Structures Laminator: Xinbao Glass Co. Year: 2021 Video © Kuraray The Ginza building harmoniously blends the rich history of Ginza with modern architectural innovation. Once renowned for its Art Deco charm and its role as Tokyo's gateway through Shimbashi, Ginza now showcases a façade designed by Jun Aoki that draws from its waterfront origins. Inspired by the famous Impressionist painting La Grenouillère by Monet (1869), the design reflects the fluidity and vibrancy of water, echoing Ginza's legacy as a bustling hub by the bay. The façade features a striking "pillar of water" concept, brought to life through two layers of multi-curved laminated glass. The outer panes, nearly seamless, ripple and flex with dynamic vitality, creating limitless color variations through dichroic glass. At street level, the façade mirrors the energy of Ginza, while higher up, it transforms the surrounding towers into ethereal, wavy silhouettes. Throughout the day, a flowing skyscape dances across the surface, while evening reflections gradually fade upward, evoking a sense of immateriality. The intricate glass makeup (10mm low iron + 3.04mm clear SentryGlas® + 10mm low iron, with a colored coating on surface #2) captures the essence of Ginza’s dual identity—rooted in history yet embracing modernity. #architecture #architecturephotography #architecturelovers #architect #architectural #architects #architecture #architecturephotography #architecturelovers #architect #architectureporn #architectural #architects #interiorarchitecture #architecture_hunter #modernarchitecture #visualarchitects #architecturedesign #architecturelover #architecturestudent #architectures #lookingup_architecture

Ventana de Sueños, Puerto Colombia Interlayer: Trosifol® Translucent White & Trosifol® Clear Owner: Puerto Colombia Architect: James Ariza Barraza Developer: Tecnoglass Structural engineer: Alays Ariza Barraza Laminator: Tecnoglass Tecnoglass Inc Year: 2023 Video © Tecnoglass December has arrived, and we're launching off our own special monthly segment, 'Holiday Edition.' We're getting started with this first project, Ventana de Sueños (The Dreams Window) This holiday season, Ventana de Sueños stands tall as a shimmering symbol of resilience and unity, inviting everyone to reflect on the journeys that shape us and the dreams that guide us. Nestled in Puerto Colombia, Ventana de Sueños is more than a lighthouse; it’s a beacon of history, hope, and innovation. Its grandeur is further enhanced by 1,940 square meters of laminated glass panels featuring vibrant, one-of-a-kind silk-screened designs. Secured with over 20,000 stainless steel screws, these glass panels add a touch of brilliance to the holiday skyline. But it’s not just the aesthetics that make this monument extraordinary.
