Knowledge. Nature. Truth. World-class wine from Washington’s best kept secret, the Horse Heaven Hills AVA.

About us

Trothe wines are sourced exclusively from Andrews Family Vineyards in the Horse Heaven Hills. This is ground our great-grandfather broke from sagebrush, ground we have farmed for generations, ground we know. Our faith in this land runs deep, and we trust that if we hold our work to uncommon standards, we will produce uncommon results. We hand select our grapes in small lots from the blocks, rows, and individual vines that exemplify the quality of our vineyard and the distinctive character of the vintage. Trothe wines are extremely limited. Our 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon allocation period is now closed. Join our List for access to future vintages.

  • “We knew we had a great location,” says Mike Andrews of his site’s terroir. “From the get-go, most of the wineries that got our grapes knew they were special, starting with all the excitement at Columbia Crest when I delivered my first ten-wheeler truckload.” Mike Andrews discusses the first plantings of Andrews Family Vineyards and the joys of seeing the next generation elevate the family operation in a recent interview with Washington Tasting Room Magazine. • In the Horse Heaven Hills AVA, nature leads, and we follow. Every decision—from cover crops to canopy management—is made with intention, respecting the delicate balance of our ecosystem. Sustainability isn’t just a practice at Trothe; it’s a promise to the land that has given us so much. The sun, the wind, the soil—they shape our vines, our wines, and our future. For those who seek wines with a true sense of place, the story starts here. 📷️ Cameron Karsten Photography

  • We knew the allocation window would pass quickly on the release of our 2022 Trothe Syrah and Black Label Sauvignon Blanc and after a great response, the allocation closes tonight at midnight. Our thoughts about these special vintages... Our Syrah is redolent of Horse Heaven Hills in the heart of Washington State winemaking country: meaty and briny, rippled by sunshine. This is our first barrel fermented and aged Sauvignon Blanc. We fully believe that Horse Heaven Hills, with its warm, sunny days and cool nights, is ideal for Sauvignon Blanc, which is fully realized in this gorgeous wine. • Our 2022 Troth Syrah is redolent of Horse Heaven Hills in the heart of Washington State winemaking country: meaty and briny, rippled by sunshine. Its freshness means it can be opened and enjoyed now, though best decanted. Or it can be cellared for at least another ten years to allow the wine to gradually develop and express the best characters of aged Syrah. We’ve had a remarkable response to the release of our 2022 Syrah just one week ago. With only a few cases left we are so grateful to our Members and those who have joined our list and secured allocations. Please join our list at https://lnkd.in/gNxduZfV to be informed on releases and dates, and how to secure Trothe wines at Member prices.

  • Our 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon was selected as one of the Top 60 Northwest Wines of 2024 by Northwest Wine Report. We were one of only 6 wines in the Cabernet Sauvignon category. Here is Sean Sullivan's 2024 review of this Horse Heaven Hills Cabernet: 96 points, Cellar Stocker "In a few short vintages, Trothe has made a name for itself as one of the very best Cabernet Sauvignon producers in Washington. This wine shows why. Aromas of plum, dark fruit, and herb lead to plump, exquisitely proportioned black fruit flavors that show compelling purity, polish, intensity, and length. Far from a big bruiser or an overt blockbuster, this wine is all about grace, subtlety, balance, and – most impressive of all – purity, while bringing no shortage of power, richness, and intensity. The interplay between all of the components separates it. It’s gloriously beautiful – one of the wines of the vintage – with a very (very) long life in front of it. Best from 2028 to 2040." 📸 Cameron Karsten Photography

  • It's Release Day! Trothe: 2022 Syrah & 2022 Black Label Sauvignon Blanc The 2022 vintage at Andrews Family Vineyards was marked by dramatic contrasts. The year began as the coolest and wettest in the last fifteen, with abundant spring rain and a mid-April frost that led many in the region to question the viability of growing a crop that year. Despite these setbacks, the vines showed remarkable resilience, and by mid-summer, we were monitoring their progress closely, adjusting our approach to account for the cooler-than-usual growing conditions. As we entered September, the weather transformed into something extraordinary—warm, sun-drenched days paired with cool, crisp nights created the perfect conditions for ripening. The Syrah and Sauvignon Blanc were able to mature fully in this beautiful fall weather, capturing both the richness of the fruit and the freshness of the cooler nights. Today we release our 2022 Syrah, and our first barrel fermented and aged Sauvignon Blanc. Trothe wines are available by allocation only. • The Northwest Wine Report just announced the Top 60 Northwest Wines of 2024. We are excited to share that our 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon made the list as one of only 6 in the Cabernet Sauvignon category. Wines on the list were chosen from nearly 1,000 wines reviewed over the last year. The selections were based on score, overall excitement and, to a lesser extent, price. See the list and Sean Sullivan's review of our Cabernet Sauvignon at https://lnkd.in/g_veMReQ 📸 Cameron Karsten Photography

  • A devastating freeze in January 2024 caused significant grapevine losses for winegrowers in British Columbia, but the wine community came together in a big way. Many Washington growers, including Trothe, stepped in to help Canadian winemakers by providing grapes to keep their craft alive. Our proprietor, Jeff Andrews, shared this story of collaboration and resilience in Food & Wine Magazine. We’re proud to play a small part in supporting our neighbors.
