 🚨 FMCSA continuing ahead with planned revisions to the Safety Measurement System (SMS) methodology and CSA scores. In a Federal Register notice posted this morning, the FMCSA announced its intent to move forward with significant changes to the way that it calculates carriers' CSA scores. These changes were first announced in February of 2023. Since that time, the FMCSA has accepted and considered public comments. And in today's notice, the agency summarizes the comments received and some of the tweaks it has made to the planned revisions in light of those comments. The FMCSA still has yet to provide an implementation date for these changes. REMINDER: Effective Nov 18, Clearinghouse Phase II will take effect and state drivers licensing agencies will be required to downgrade the CDLs of any drivers currently in prohibited status due to a drug or alcohol violation. This means nearly 180,000 commercial drivers will be stripped of their CDLs next Monday, assuming they haven’t lost them already.
