This week we published new research that reveals less than 10% of UK consumers are ‘very confident’ about the benefits green heating and insulation products can deliver. While confidence may be low, awareness of products is relatively high. When asked about which products consumers were aware of, solar panels (85%) and home insulation (80%) products were most widely known. On the other hand, two thirds (65%) and over a half (52%) of consumers were not aware of biomass boilers and ground source heat pumps, respectively. Another area cited as a confidence driver is regulation, with over a third of consumers stating they would feel more confident should a governing body be introduced. The results clearly tell us that consumers are aware, but not assured. Last week we had the pleasure of welcoming Miatta Fahnbulleh MP, the new Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State (Minister for Energy Consumers), to our Warrington office to meet with our team, and find out more about Trust Alliance Group (TAG). The visit was an opportunity for us to share the work that we do to across TAG to build, restore, and maintain trust, and to strengthen our engagement with political leaders. Our Public Affairs team works closely with political stakeholders across the UK to share data and insight from Energy Ombudsman and Communications Ombudsman, helping create better policy and regulation to improve consumer experiences. During the visit we discussed the work of the Energy Ombudsman and its commitment to supporting energy consumers and how we work with suppliers to use our complaints data and consumer feedback to drive meaningful improvements across the sector. Millions of people in the UK workforce are impacted by Menopause and at TAG we are committed to promoting an environment where menopause is openly discussed and where everyone, regardless of gender or background, can access the resources they need. In 2023, we launched our Menopause Toolkit to support and raise awareness for the 47% of colleagues we estimate to be impacted. 150 colleagues have already accessed the toolkit this year, engaging with resources and personal stories. Last week, during our Colleague Conference in Blackpool, we celebrated and recognised individual talent across the Group in our #TAGstars Awards ceremony – a true highlight of our year. The awards are a great way to support and encourage our values across the business, whilst recognising our key achievers and celebrating long-term service across the group. We had 74 colleagues commemorating 5, 10 and 15 years of service with us, and a special mention to our Director of Regulation & Relationships Jonathan Lenton who this year celebrated 20 years with TAG! In the weeks leading up to the conference, colleagues were encouraged to nominate each other in 8 categories which included ‘Rising Star’, ‘Community Star’, and the ‘Group Superstar’ award. This year, our ‘Group Superstar’ award went to Gemma West, one of our Appeals Assessors! Congratulations to all those nominated and a huge well done to all of this year’s winners! Today we were in Blackpool for our fourth annual Colleague Conference to celebrate the successes of the last year and look ahead to 2025. Over 500 colleagues came together from across Trust Alliance Group, including the individual businesses Energy Ombudsman, Communications Ombudsman, Internet Commission, Flexible Resolution Services & Lumin. During a wonderul day talking everything TAG, colleagues heard from our Group CEO, Simon Palmer, alongside members of our senior leadership team to look back at our achievements and discuss our business plan for the future.
