Please help us congratulate the City's newest Cheers for Peers honoree - Charles Taylor! This summer, Charles was driving the farmers market parking shuttle when someone working in a food truck had a medical emergency. Charles carried the worker from the food truck into the River Market to cool down and begin receiving first aid while the ambulance was on its way. Thank you Charles for your responsiveness, quick thinking, and no hesitation action that went above and beyond to care for a member of our community. We are so proud to work with you!

At the third annual Employee Excellence Awards earlier this month, Mayor Walt Maddox honored three employees with the Mayor's Excellence Award. Over the next few weeks, we will highlight each of these employees, starting with Portia McBride! Portia is the 311 Call Center Manager, and manages the personnel and operations of Tuscaloosa 311. She also collaborates with other City departments and staff to ensure that 311 provides accurate information to our residents. One of Portia's biggest achievements has been implementing the launch of the SeeClickFix software that allows residents to seamlessly connect with the City via phone, website or mobile app. She also led the effort to become the first certified 311 call center in the state of Alabama. Thank you for all that you do, Portia!
