Valmont Industries, Inc.'s U-BEAM Bridges are a technology consisting of hot dip galvanized steel tub girders, which are an AASHTO (American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials) Innovation Focus Technology and are Illinois Department of Transportation-approved for use on off-system (Township, County and Municipal) roads. The bridges also qualify for IDOT and FHWA bridge funding and are suitable for grants in the FHWA Bridge Improvement Program (BIP). This technology offers the best ROI with a cost competitive to traditional PPC Concrete Beams, yet lasting over twice as long as concrete beams and their lighter weight allows the use of smaller equipment to set the bridge, which saves money.
