We're still smiling thinking about our winter Home Celebration earlier this month! Habitat homeowners, volunteers, and donors showed up to make the evening a blast. It was the perfect way to highlight and experience the strength and fellowship of the Twin Cities Habitat community. Thanks to the Minnesota Children's Museum for hosting us, and thanks to Chef Jeff Catering for providing delicious food!

Check out the latest update from The Heights in St. Paul! 🤩 Twin Cities Habitat is honored to create 147 affordable homeownership opportunities at this 112-acre transformational development. We're building single-family homes, twin homes, and three- and four-unit townhome buildings. The first 30 homes are under construction. Homes are being enclosed and are beginning to have temporary heat and power. The townhome units are ready for interior finishes!

Laura Oyen, Public Funding Coordinator at Twin Cities Habitat for Humanity, shares how the 2024 Jimmy & Rosalynn Carter Work Project had many connections to her own Como neighborhood in St. Paul. "I have worked with several employers over the many years I have lived in the Como neighborhood, and I had the opportunity to volunteer with those firms on Habitat builds. There were times during my career that I felt what I was doing didn’t matter. It happened that I was able to volunteer with Habitat during times when I was searching for meaning and wanting to make a difference. I was fortunate to find that mission and opportunity to use my skill set at Twin Cities Habitat."

Several years before adopting our new strategic plan, Twin Cities Habitat partnered with Dr. Brittany Lewis and her firm Research in Action to develop solutions to bridge the racial homeownership gap in the Twin Cities metro. Now, Research in Action’s 2024 Impact Report highlights the work they’ve done and how it informed the creation of our Advancing Black Homeownership Program.
