Congratulations to the entire Confluencenter for Creative Inquiry team! It's energizing when our local community recognizes your impact https://lnkd.in/gUfsU8bP
This past weekend we received an award from Coalición de Derechos Humanos, “For your invaluable support in defending and empowering our immigrant community!” 🙌🏽 “Our partnership with Derechos Humanos has been essential in advancing the Fronteridades program, and this award reflects the hard work and dedication of everyone involved,” said Javier Duran, Director of the Confluencenter. We are beyond grateful and humbled to receive this award for our partnership with Derechos Humanos in support of the Mellon-Fronteridades program. This work is made possible through the Mellon Foundation that has funded the #Fronteridades program to elevate historically overlooked narratives to form a more inclusive, accurate, and just portrayal of the communities on the U.S.-Mexico border. A huge thank you to our staff and student workers for your hard work and dedication to the work we do for our Tucson community and beyond. This accomplishment is a true reflection of our collective effort and collaboration! ✨

We can accomplish more when we work together. The Drowning Prevention Coalition of Arizona recently recognized the efforts of the African American Museum of Southern Arizona and Campus Recreation for their free swim lessons. According to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Black children ages 10 to 14 drown in swimming pools at rates 7.6 times higher than white children. https://lnkd.in/g7abDXWz
