Positively impacting lives and shaping safer communities by translating corrections research into practice.
About us
UCCI’s mission is to research, develop, disseminate, and implement evidence-based practices in corrections. Our work impacts corrections agencies and organizations far and wide. From California to Maine, our team of expert researchers, clinicians and practitioners have conducted and implemented tested approaches in all 50 US states and internationally in Scotland, Singapore, New Zealand, Israel and the US Territory of Guam. Many agencies, both for profit and non-profit agencies as well as federal, state, local, and international governments, choose UCCI because we offer a knowledgeable approach to realize stronger adoption and incorporation of effective interventions with adult and juvenile individuals. We work alongside agencies to identify gaps in service delivery, respond by developing innovative approaches, pilot these offerings in real-world application, and freely offer them to the public. In this way, UCCI's approaches are available to adopt at no per use fee, and after being trained by a UCCI trainer, staff are permitted to photocopy materials needed for their work. We welcome you to learn more about our services, which include distance learning modules, both original and well established intervention approaches with corresponding staff training, program design and technical assistance consultation, and research and evaluation services. Of key importance, UCCI offers organizational sustainability through the training of agency trainers, along with continuous quality improvement support for program fidelity.

The CSG Justice Center and the U.S Department of Justice’s Office of Justice Programs’ Bureau of Justice Assistance are accepting applications from supervision agencies to participate in the Smart Supervision Resident Analyst (SSRA) program, which will embed an experienced data analyst full-time for one year in participating agencies at no cost. Apply through their streamlined process (application here:https://buff.ly/4fm2IcH) by January 8, 2025. SSRA is open to all supervision agencies (i.e., Tribal, state, and county probation offices, as well as probation and parole agencies located within or outside of departments of corrections). This opportunity is funded through the FY22 Smart Supervision: Grants, Tools, and Technical Assistance to Facilitate Change program and builds on the success of the Resident Corrections Analyst initiative, which places embedded analysts in departments of corrections. Contact Chandrika Derricho at cderricho@csg.org if you have any questions about the project or to find out if it’s the right fit for your supervision agency or department.

This year marks the 40th anniversary of the Justice Assistance Act of 1984 that established the Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA). As we commemorate BJA’s 40th anniversary, we reflect on our past, look to the future of BJA, and recognize the people and organizations that have worked with BJA over the last 40 years to transform our nation’s criminal justice system. Read a special blog post from Director Moore on how BJA has transformed the criminal justice system over the past 40 years. https://buff.ly/4eIWHqi

Drs. Mindy Smith and Leslie Drummond attended the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention Conference in Washington DC November 19-21. The conference brought together youth and families, grantees, leading researchers, practitioners, and other stakeholders from across the U.S. who are working to transform juvenile justice. Along with partners from CJJR and CSG, UCCI hosted a breakout session for System Reform grantees to discuss lessons learned, ongoing challenges, and opportunities for continued growth. The session helped form connections across agencies and provided an opportunity to address challenges in a collaborative way.
