🎄 Teaching Financial Literacy Through Holiday Cheer 🎄 At the University of Dayton’s 61st annual Christmas on Campus, the Flyers for Financial Literacy, led by Finance & Accounting major Megan Saylor, taught Dayton children budgeting basics with a festive mini Christmas shop. Using “monopoly money,” kids learned to make thoughtful spending decisions on prizes like candy and stickers, combining financial education with holiday fun. This initiative highlights UD’s commitment to experiential learning and community engagement, making a lasting impact through service and education. #UniversityOfDayton #FinancialLiteracy #ServiceLearning #FlyerPride #CommunityEngagement

This is just one example of the exemplary work done by SBA students this past semester.
Honors Student at University of Dayton | Management Information Systems | Business Analytics | UDit Project Manager and Cyber Flyers Representative
This semester in MIS 380, I helped to lead a team of eight students in developing an IT system solution for a mock consulting company following the SDLC methodology. Over the course of the semester, we completed five major deliverables from the Preliminary Project Schedule to the final System Design Specifications. Our team utilized tools such as Microsoft Project and Visio to create Gantt charts to monitor project progress as well as use case and data flow diagrams to present our proposed system design to stakeholders. I created an entity-relationship diagram for the system database using MySQL as well as developed an Excel cost-tracking sheet with formulas to detail project expenses by deliverable calculated based on our consulting rate. Our team earned A’s on all of our submissions. Thank you to my teammates Aidan Dempsey, Allison Smith, Calvin Laurenson, Charlie Tucker, Ian Morrison, Mitch Doorley, and Paeton Gibson—I could not have asked for a better team. Also, thank you to our professor, Harvey Enns, for your guidance and for playing the role of project sponsor during interviews and feedback sessions. This experience not only strengthened our technical knowledge but also developed our skills in team organization, clear communication, and self-motivation. Though challenging, this course ultimately pushed us to think critically and collaborate to deliver high-quality results.
