The UF/IFAS Center for Public Issues Education in Agriculture and Natural Resources (PIE Center) examines how people think about, form, and act on opinions regarding complex agricultural and natural resources issues. Through interdisciplinary research, strategic communication, and educational programs, the PIE Center aims to increase public understanding of the agriculture and natural resources sectors.

Attention UF graduate students! 📣 UF/IFAS Center for Public Issues Education is excited to relaunch the PIE Fellowship, with a few changes meant to better serve students! This is a student fellowship opportunity that provides students with the opportunity to participate in an asynchronous professional development experience. Fellows will also receive one-on-one mentorship by experienced professionals, financial support for conferences and publishing, plus much more! Applications are due September 3. Public health communication on social media: Insights from tick-borne disease discussions on Twitter📱 The PIE Center recently examined how people discuss tick-borne diseases on Twitter, exploring the impact of visuals and framing on audience engagement. Over half of tweets lacked visual aids, but those that included images or graphics had higher engagement rates. This study has valuable takeaways for public health communicators on social media.
