This past summer I had the opportunity to continue my studies in spanish as well as learn more about different cultures of the world through studying abroad for six weeks in Cadíz, Spain!
I was able to continue to work towards my spanish minor through taking classes in spanish linguistics and culture/history. I also worked towards my fluency in spanish through speaking with locals and living in the home of a family from cadíz with another student on my trip!
I was also able to make valuable new connections and friendships with other spanish students from the University of Georgia, as well as learn from awesome and knowledgeable professors and graduate students, both from UGA and the University of Cadiz.
On this trip, we stayed in Cadiz with local families and had mostly educational excursions or occasional personal travel on the weekends. We visited Madrid, Cordoba, Granada, Rhonda, Sevilla, Tarifa, Gilbraltar, and Lagos throughout Spain, Portugal, and a UK territory. On education trips, we visited the Grand Palacio in Madrid, the Cathedral of Cadiz, the Real Alacazar, the Mosque-Cathedral of Cordoba, the Strait of Gilbraltar, the Alhambra, the vineyards of Jerez de la Frontera, the Cathedral of Sevilla, and a traditional flamenco show, along with much more!
Overall, I gained numerous invaluable experiences and learned so much both on academic and personal levels. I am so grateful to have been able to have this experience!
