🐒 Nature is as beautiful as it is fragile, and we have a responsibility to preserve it. 🌎 The Natural History Museum Denmark is currently home to a moving and unique display of the “Wildlife Photographer of the Year” 📷. The exhibition originates from London’s Natural History Museum, where each year winning photo entries are chosen to tell the story of a planet under increasing pressure. British Ambassador, Joëlle Jenny, gave a speech at the opening ceremony in Copenhagen. The Ambassador and attendees admired a show of beautiful photography increasing knowledge of biodiversity, spread awareness of environmental issues, and nurture our love for nature. 🌱 The wonderful picture collection is now open to see for the public.

  • 🔗 The longest cable in the world now lays between the UK and Denmark.    The Viking Link is a 765km-long submarine power interconnector that goes from the Danish coast of Jutland 🇩🇰 to the British village of Bicker 🇬🇧.     The historic link enables a more effective use of renewable energy 💡, increase access to sustainable electricity generation and improves security of electricity supplies. ♻️    🗓️ The cable has an annual transmission capacity of 12.3TWh. For your reference, the whole of Denmark has an average annual consumption of 32TWh!    🎙️ This September, State of Green published its new “Sound of Green: Energy Without Borders” podcast. The company, which connects clients to Danish providers driving green transition, made this episode to explore how Denmark and the UK came together to build the Viking Link. 📲 https://lnkd.in/d7FuQwBP

  • 🇺🇦 Today marks the grim milestone of 1️⃣0️⃣0️⃣0️⃣ days since Russia invaded Ukraine on 21 February 2022. 🚨 Over the past 1000 days, Putin’s imperialism has violated European security, attempted to tear up the UN charter and run roughshod over international law. Ukrainians have defended their country with courage and a fierce determination to stand up for their freedom.  The UK and Denmark are firm supporters of Ukraine. Together, we have successfully trained Ukrainian soldiers under Operation INTERFLEX. 🇩🇰 Denmark has delivered F-16s to the front line. 🇬🇧 The UK has supported some of the pilot training and co-leads a Drone Capability Coalition which has delivered over £500m worth of drones to Ukraine, pledging a further £325m over the next year. ✊ We must continue to stand with Ukraine, confront Russian aggression and pursue Putin for his war crimes. Our response will remain one of strength, resilience and unity for as long as it takes.

  • The rainbow shines even brighter over the Polar Regions 🌈❄    Today marks this year’s #PolarPride. ️Started by the UK, this is now a truly international celebration of the contribution of LGBTQ+ polar researchers 🏳️🌈    For over 1️⃣0️⃣0️⃣ years since its discovery, visitors to Antarctica were overwhelmingly men. It was not until the 1980s that the first British female scientists began working at the frozen continent.      Today, those who identify as LGBTQ+ comprise an estimated 2% of polar researchers, compared with around 5% in UK society as a whole and 7% in Higher Education STEM Research. 🔬    🧑🔬 #PolarPride has the ambition to support the delivery of a more diverse and inclusive future for UK polar science – a future that reflects the diversity in British society today and which will better address the research challenges in the polar regions.    Learn more about why Pride matters for doing better polar research: https://lnkd.in/eWTyN_4i

  • “There are so many reasons to be optimistic about our country: the potential of our financial services sector, the potential we have to make Britain more competitive, and the potential that we have to grow our economy” 🎙️ These were some of UK Chancellor Rachel Reeves’ words in her first Mansion House speech in the City of London yesterday. 📈 The government is especially focused on driving growth and opportunity across the United Kingdom. One of its main announcements, the significant increase in public investments by £100bn over the next five years, is a strong signal of stability to international investors. This opens opportunities for Denmark 🇩🇰 and the UK 🇬🇧 to further develop their relationship as industry partners across sectors.
