📣📣 Call for evidence for an inquiry into FEMALE ENTREPRENEURSHIP 📣📣 As you know I sit on the House of Commons Women and Equalities Select Committee and we have launched a call for evidence for an inquiry into female entrepreneurship. We will examine the barriers women face pursuing entrepreneurialism. The inquiry will analyse in which sectors of the economy women face the greatest obstacles to entrepreneurship and why, and consider what can be done to address these. Select committee inquires tend to lead to reports that are submitted to government with recommendations to effect positive change. Another year and another brilliant The Parliamentary Internet, Communications and Technology Forum (PICTFOR) diversity rally which I gave the closing short speech at but the brilliant Dame Caroline Dinenage MP DBE -who I co-chair this All Party Parliamentary Group with- gave the welcome speech, and it was remiss of me not to grab her to come to the front for this group selfie at the end. Caroline handed over to the ‘OG’ Chi Onwurah MP who in turn handed to new Lib Dem MP Victoria Collins. I said that as a new Member of Parliament and one of many new entries with a background and/or an interest in tech, Victoria and I are standing on the shoulders of giants. It was wonderful to catch up with some familiar faces Emma Wright, Karen Blake, finally meet Lavinia D. Osbourne in person, and make some new connections and ace speakers Melissa Wills FRSA, Lydia Martelly-French, Dr Jess Wade, Ren Yi Hooi and others. My big ask: let’s get the data and please lean on this new entry of parliamentarians to help us change laws. That’s the bit that we MPs can help deliver with you. What did I takeaway from the UNESCO Women4Ethical AI conference in Paris? Wanda Muñoz – “Intersectionality is the analytical framework we need now. If use we gender as a single attribute, we will end up perpetrating bias against the most marginalized women. We cannot leave anyone behind.”     4. Bhavani Rao R – “We need a value shift to begin with. Wolf packs have the old lead, then female, then the cubs, last by the alpha. This means that the most vulnerable sets the pace. This means we need to build for everyone.     5. Emma Wright – “[Investing in women startups] isn’t a female issue, this is a societal issue and an economic problem. Huge kudos to Gabriela Ramos Dr. Alessandra Sala Eleonora Lamm Mariagrazia Squicciarini for hosting us all in Paris today.
