We don't call eyeglasses 'seeing aids', it's EYEWEAR. (mic drop). 🎤 Love this quote from Nick Morgan-Jones, founder of start up hearing tech company, Overtone, on The unDEAFeated Podcast presented by BLUEMOTH Hearing. He has some very interesting perspectives on today's hearing care and hearing tech industry, and I am all for it. Ncik's idea is to make hearing aids fashion-forward and cool by making them visible to break the stigmas surrounding them. It's a total 180 from what most people may think, but it makes total sense. If you want to feel comfortable with something, if you want it to be cool, show it off, make it visible! 👌 I have always been one for making hearing aids discreet, due to my own stigmas associated with them, but speaking with Nick has now made me feel different about hearing technology. • Joshua Horniman was born with a severe hearing impairment that wasn’t discovered until he was three years old. His parents noticed that he was behind in speech and development, which led to a hearing test. Since then, he has worn hearing aids daily. Joshua has faced his share of tough days where he felt out of place. Despite these challenges, he never let his "disability" stop him from achieving his goals. He is now racing full-time in the CARS Tour Pro Late Model Series. Every day presents challenges, both on and off the track. After racing, his team has to wait for him to swap his radio earbuds for his hearing aids before discussing the truck's performance. It can be frustrating, but Joshua is living proof that with hard work, the right support, and a positive attitude, you can achieve your goals. His race team, J-Dawg Motorsports (in partnership with Stillwell Racing), embodies perseverance with their slogan: “Keep Diggin’ Dawg!” Joshua Horniman is truly unDEAFeated.
