If you’ve ever met Charles Carpenter at Charlotte Douglas International Airport, you know his positivity is contagious. As a wheelchair agent, he’s dedicated to ensuring passengers feel safe, respected and cared for. His motto? “Your attitude reflects your aptitude.” This year, Charles received both the Outstanding Service Award and the Grand Prize Safety Award, recognizing his commitment to service and safety. He’s even earned the trust of Congresswoman Rep. Alma Adams, assisting her during travel and ensuring every detail – down to her signature hats – is handled with care. Despite the accolades, Charles remains humble, mentoring younger employees and emphasizing teamwork. His story is proof that kindness, professionalism and a great attitude make all the difference.

Recently, we had the privilege of celebrating a very special traveler—an 85-year-old longtime customer who was connecting through Dallas Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) on her way to Houston for cancer treatment. Not only was she flying with us, but she was also celebrating her birthday!   Her son always lets us know when she’s traveling, and this time, we wanted to make her journey extra meaningful. During her layover, our team surprised her with flowers, a cake, and heartfelt wishes. Seeing her smile and knowing we could bring even a small bit of joy to her day reminded us why we do what we do. This is what Elevate from the Heart is all about—showing care, respect, and genuine kindness in every interaction!

Today, we are proud to celebrate Bobby Johnson, our Detroit Metropolitan Airport - DTW City Director, as he receives the Patriotic Employer Award from the Office of the Secretary of Defense. This award recognizes employers who contribute to national security and protecting liberty and freedom by supporting members of America’s National Guard and Reserve Force.   Pictured alongside Bobby is Leilynn Moore, our Detroit General Manager, who recently returned from a 9-month deployment in Iraq. Bobby’s unwavering support for Leilynn and all our employees who serve in the military exemplifies our deep commitment to those who sacrifice for our freedom.   At Unifi, we honor and appreciate our veterans, reservists, and active-duty service members. We were honored to attend the Brandon Hall Group' Awards ceremony where Akshay Loomba, VP of Talent Acquisition, accepted three Excellence Awards on behalf of Unifi: Best Advance in Talent Acquisition, Best Performance Management, and Best Human Resources. During the event, Akshay also had the privilege of speaking on the panel, Winning Strategies for Hiring Top Talent in an Ultra-Competitive Market, sharing valuable insights on our hiring strategies. Ruth Morrison is bringing her A-game both on and off the court! With strength, resilience, and a winning mindset, her wheelchair basketball team recently took home the championship trophy in a hard-fought tournament. When she returned to Atlanta, the team celebrated her and her team’s incredible victory!
