Congratulations to our Nutrition Coordinator Kenneth Prusiensky for being recognized with the prestigious Lifesaver Award for the second time, marking a significant achievement as the first County employee to receive this honor twice! On October 3, 2024, while delivering a meal to a homebound participant as part of Union County’s Senior Nutrition Program, Prusiensky noticed the front door of the client's home was open. Concerned, he called out to the participant and was met with cries for help. Acting without hesitation, he entered the home, found the individual in distress, and immediately called 911. It's International Volunteer Day! Here at Union County, volunteerism and serving our community is a part of our work culture. By policy, County employees can spend two full days each year volunteering with a local nonprofit or school. This year, county employees had the option to spend their volunteer hours helping with relief efforts in western North Carolina. As 2024 comes to a close, we look back with gratitude at the various ways our workforce has served this community and our neighbors in western North Carolina in their time of need. #IVD2024 Are you looking for a way to serve your community?
