Days 7 & 8 of Cybersecurity Woman of the World Edition 2024: Vienna Finale After an unforgettable time at Lake Bled and the Julian Alps, we set off for Vienna! It was a 4+ hour drive, and our spirits were high as we anticipated the adventure. We stopped at Hügellandhof for a delicious lunch along the way, then continued on to meet our incredible host, Kristina Jovanovska. Our first stop in #Vienna was the beautiful Belvedere Palace (which dates back to the late 17th century when it was built as a summer residence for Prince Eugene of Savoy), just a short walk from Kristina’s home. Arriving just before closing, we marveled at the palace’s stunning architecture and the remarkable art collections within, getting a real taste of Vienna’s timeless elegance. After our palace tour, Kristina welcomed us into her apartment with a spread that made us feel right at home—cheeses, meats, and the most decadent Viennese desserts, including out-of-this-world cakes! She topped it all off with a glass of champagne, and we shared laughs, stories, and a deep appreciation for the friendships and dedication that brought us all together to champion cybersecurity. Thank you, Kristina!!! In the evening, we wandered Vienna’s streets, taking in the city’s nighttime charm. With most restaurant kitchens closed, we embraced the local street food scene and treated ourselves to classic sausages and sauerkraut. Nothing like a little street food to end the night! The next day, after some much-needed cappuccinos, we headed off to the magnificent Schönbrunn Palace. Once home to the great Empress Maria Theresa I of the Habsburg dynasty, Schönbrunn has seen many illustrious figures, including Archduke Franz Ferdinand and Emperor Ferdinand II. It’s a true masterpiece of architecture, steeped in history, and impossible to replicate. We enjoyed lunch at the top of the hill, overlooking the palace—delicious food and even better company. That evening, our adventures together came to an end. With hearts full of gratitude, unforgettable memories, and friendships that will last a lifetime, we parted ways, ready to take on new challenges with renewed energy and inspiration. I had the pleasure of attending a very productive meeting this week with SEGA SAMMY HOLDINGS INC. team at their Tokyo office to discuss our collaboration and support for our 100 Women in 100 Days Cybersecurity Career Accelerator Program.
