Outstanding Graduate Spotlight: Olivia Andrew, Retailing with Concentration in Fashion Merchandising and Digital innovations. Olivia has been not only an outstanding student but also a leader. She has served as a member of the Department of Retailing Student Advisory Board and as a Sales Associate and Social Media Manager for Gamecock iHub. Olivia says: “I cannot thank HRSM, especially the Department of Retailing, enough for giving me the most amazing 3.5 years! I have found the most incredible support system in my HRSM family, and I will be forever grateful for all that I have learned! It's an early (and well-earned) holiday gift for HRSM alum Jon Murray! The 2005 Sport and Entertainment Management grad had success in the music industry, then turned to hospitality as Chief Restaurant Officer for The Indigo Road Hospitality Group, overseeing over 20 restaurants, bars, and hotels. We're proud of all the HRSM Sport and Entertainment Management students who took advantage of the opportunity to work the Southeastern Conference (SEC) Championship Game FanFare event. Thanks to Bespoke Sports & Entertainment (including alumna Hannah Margeson) and Department of Sport and Entertainment Management Internship Director Steven Taylor for making it possible for the students to learn firsthand about all that goes into planning and executing such a big event while also making invaluable connections for the future.

On the management side of Major League Baseball (MLB), the Winter Meetings are among the biggest days of the year, and Sport and Entertainment Management student Sydney Herz is there. Sydney is one of a small group of college students selected to attend the Take the Field program, a two-day event designed for women interested in front office and on-field careers within professional baseball. Take the Field provides opportunities for education and engagement with Club and League personnel through panels, breakout sessions and professional development.
