Upendo Kwanza is focused on supporting education for underprivileged children in Tanzania
About us
Upendo Kwanza is a 501 c (3) non-profit with a mission of providing educational resources to help all children reach their full potential. Upendo Kwanza Inc. raises funds to support education for underprivileged and underserved children in rural Tanzania through funding for tuition, providing school supplies, providing mentorship, and connecting local schools with educators and volunteers. 3.5 million children are out of school in Tanzania due to economic hardship. In the Ngarenanyuki region, where our Kisimiri project is based, many students enrolled in primary school do not graduate. We believe that all children should have equal access to opportunities to grow and reach their full potential. Our organization aims to bring people together to provide educational resources to empower all children with access to quality basic education. A child who arrives at school feeling healthy and happy is a child with a strong foundation to learn and achieve their dreams. All our founders are young people with origins in Tanzania. Having received their early education in the Tanzanian public school system and now working as professionals in various fields, they have first-hand experience of the value of opportunities from organizations like Upendo Kwanza. As an organization, we aim to expand these opportunities to as many children as possible.

We are thrilled to announce the launch of our new website! Our goal for the redesign was to create an exceptional experience for our supporters by making it easier to understand our cause and get involved. The new site also offers a window into the lives of our students and introduces you to the Upendo Kwanza team. This project wouldn't have been possible without the dedication of Upendo Kwanza leadership, our incredible professional volunteers, and all team members who supported its development. A special thank you to Paschalia Nsato, Einas Elamin, Nick White, Elijah Lyimo, Walid Kambagha, Jair Oballe, Kate O'Brien, and Docta Studio who worked tirelessly to bring the vision to life! As we continue to improve the site, we welcome your feedback. Please take a look and let us know what you think. Your insights help us make an even greater difference in our cause. Today, we celebrate the life and legacy of Mwalimu Julius Kambarage Nyerere, the father of our nation and a champion of education. His belief in the power of education to transform society inspires us all. As a teacher, he believed that education is about literacy and empowering citizens to build a united, self-reliant, and prosperous nation. Please register to attend our 5km/10km on October 26, in Dar es Salaam. Click https://lnkd.in/dT-KXJgd
