Our (Kay Tita) most recent Digital Sales Access Program on November 2nd was nothing short of incredible. We gathered passionate small business owners, innovative community leaders, and dedicated community partners for a day filled with learning, connection, and growth. From the first session to the last, the energy and commitment in the room were palpable. As we launched our 8th cohort (since 2021 we’ve served over 500 businesses between Seattle and Tacoma), we kicked off with sessions focused on boosting online presence, including hands-on guidance for enhancing Google Business Profiles. Participants gained valuable insights on modernizing operations with Square, learned to simplify social media, navigated financial management, and unlocked the power of AI to elevate their businesses. A huge thank you to Evergreen Goodwill, who graciously provided their learning center, and to Comcast for making the Liftzone an integral part of our ecosystem. A word of caution on the "new" #setc posts you might have seen circulating over the past few days. The SETC is not a new tax credit. It was created as part of the Families First Coronavirus Response Act (FFCRA) and was eligible to be claimed on 2020 and 2021 personal tax returns. There seems to be a mass market push for an upcoming webinar that promises tax refunds of up to $32k to 1099/self-employed individuals directly from the US Treasury, quick and fast. This is not the case. The IRS guidelines are clear: https://lnkd.in/gGGGChzg If you believe you qualify for this credit, you will need to work with an accounting or tax professional to amend your tax return(s). There are many firms and agencies that promise to help you get the tax credits you deserve (ERC, SETC). For their work, they take a % of your refund. Their prerogative may not be due diligence & compliance. Do your homework and make sure they have a background in tax and accounting. #1099 #tax #ffcra #selfemployed #taxcredits

Accountants are boring and monotone. ❌ Not true. Accountants are humans with all types of interests and favorite colors and favorite weekend hobbies and things that light them up. Truth is, you usually communicate with them during a small (teeny-tiny) window each year when they’re receiving a million requests and facing critical deadlines. I think this is why I enjoy focusing on the bookkeeping aspect of accounting. We get to build continuous relationships throughout the year and help our clients feel confident and understood. My favorite part of tax season? 👀 Knowing I'm making a difference for the tax preparers that work with our clients. Our team gets to help relieve so much of the burden tax preparers face when they need more information and need it quick.
