The time is always right to do what is right. This #BlackHistoryMonth, we honor our legacy of creating lasting change. In the past year, we've: ✊🏾 𝗜𝗻𝘀𝗽𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝗢𝘂𝗿 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗵: 700+ students empowered through personalized tutoring and enrichment programs. ✊🏾 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗸𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗰𝗲 𝗗𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗽𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁: 406 adults received job training that led to sustainable, living-wage careers. ✊🏾 𝗔𝗱𝘃𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗱 𝗘𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻: 51 community members pursued teacher licensure—with nearly 80% completing their programs. ✊🏾 𝗘𝗺𝗽𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝗛𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗼𝘄𝗻𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽: 140 individuals took steps toward owning their homes with our HUD-certified guidance. ✊🏾 𝗘𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗼𝗺𝗶𝗰 𝗗𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗽𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁: Our Hub is now home to 30+ businesses sparking local reinvestment and growth. ✊🏾 𝗖𝗶𝘃𝗶𝗰 𝗘𝗺𝗽𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁: “Reclaim Your Vote” mobilized hundreds of voters and engaged over 20,000 community members. Today, February 21, we honor the indomitable spirit of three Black freedom fighters. Malcolm X was tragically taken from us 60 years ago in New York City, while John Lewis (born 1940) and Nina Simone (born 1933) remind us through their birthdays of a lifetime dedicated to justice.
