"No matter where we live in the world Ukraine, Lebanon, Sudan or the United States, everyone, including people forced to flee, deserve to be safe and welcomed," shares UNHCR Deputy High Commissioner, Kelly T. Earlier this month, after enduring the horrors of the war in Sudan for far too long, Miriam, her four daughters and her many grandchildren were forced to flee their home in Darfur. The conflict claimed the lives of seven men from their family and looters ransacked Miriam's home and killed her livestock. Food became increasingly scarce and the children had been unable to attend school since the conflict began in April 2023. As we gather around the #Thanksgiving table tomorrow, let's celebrate the gifts of family, food and togetherness while keeping in our hearts the families that have been forced to flee, leaving behind their warm homes, and often their loved ones, in search of safety. Today, let's renew our commitment to stand #WithRefugees in times of need and beyond, ensuring they have hope for better and brighter futures. 📸: © UNHCR/Andrew McConnell
