A very productive roundtable this past weekend with Region Local 6 Dojo Owners, where we were able to share the exciting changes happening with USA Karate including our Referee Structure and Event Sanctioning.
Big-picture strategy only works when it connects to real-world practice. This weekend’s USA Karate (USA-NKF) roundtable in South Florida brought together local karate leaders to discuss upcoming organizational changes and share insights from the community level. The best policies aren’t created in boardrooms—they're shaped by those working on the ground every day. Engaging with grassroots leaders ensures that decisions align with the realities of those carrying them out. How do you bridge the gap between strategy and execution in your work?

Putting Athletes First: Insights from Our Recent Athlete Advisory Council Meeting At USA Karate (USA-NKF), we believe athletes are the heart of everything we do. This belief drives our commitment to being an athlete-first organization, where decisions are shaped by those who live and breathe the sport. Recently, our Athlete Advisory Council convened to discuss key topics that impact our karate community. From athlete safety and competition structures to how we can amplify athlete voices on multiple platforms, the meeting was full of meaningful dialogue. Here’s why this matters: ▪️ Athletes provide firsthand insights. They are the ones training, competing, and representing our sport. Their input ensures that our policies are grounded in real-world experience. ▪️ Diverse perspectives strengthen decisions. The commission represents athletes from different backgrounds and levels, ensuring our approach is inclusive and forward-thinking. ▪️ It aligns with modern sports governance. Athlete representation isn’t just the right thing to do—it’s essential to ensuring good governance and building trust within the community. We’re proud of our AAC and the work they do to help shape the future of USA Karate. Their contributions ensure that our organization meets and exceeds athlete representation and engagement standards. Together, we’re building a stronger, more inclusive future for karate. 💪🥋 #AthleteFirst #Karate #SportsLeadership #KarateforLife World Karate Federation (WKF) United States Olympic & Paralympic Committee
