Continuing a look behind the scenes with our HQ team, Sean joined the business as our first Graduate Analyst. His go to karaoke song is the classic ‘That’s Life’ by Frank Sinatra (although we’ve yet to hear his rendition🎤) and his favourite movie snack is another classic – popcorn.🍿 However, his hidden achievement is that he has helped to build and launch several rockets in Scotland - how impressive is that, our very own rocket man!🚀🚀

As our team has expanded so has the space at our HQ with an additional new 1,000 sq ft! Whilst everyone enjoys hybrid working, there’s a great buzz when the team are altogether catching up, brainstorming and arguing over whose turn it is to put the kettle on😊

We’re delighted to welcome Daria who joins our bureau team as an Accounts Executive. With experience of the energy sector, we can’t help feeling slightly inadequate as Daria is fluent in not just one, but three languages!😲 Skilled in customer service and administration, Daria will be a primary point of contact for customer support. Welcome aboard! #teamworkmakesthedreamwork

Team member Gemma joined the business earlier this year as an Account Manager. She’s partial to an oat milk latte and a chicken curry – but not at the same time! Her favourite pastime is Pickle Football – yes, we had to google that.🤷♀️ But Gemma’s well kept secret is that, aged eleven, she made her dad take her to audition for S Club Juniors.🤣🤣🎤 Thankfully for us, her professional singing career didn't take off😊

Continuing our Meet the Team theme, Andrew is a Senior Account Manager who joined the business earlier this year. His first pet was Bobby the cat and his favourite cartoon character is Scooby- Doo. In his spare time, when he gets the chance away from dad duties, he is a qualified referee. However, his claim to fame is that as a keen, and skilled, footballer he one day bet the famous Henrik Larsson that he would beat him attempting to score 50 goals in one season. And he did!🙌⚽

It's just four weeks until our sponsored Raceday at Hamilton Park Racecourse. Taking place on Sunday 22 September, it's going to be a great day of racing and live music - and maybe a few sore heads on Monday.😍🏇

Over the past few months the business has grown and so we wanted to show a glimpse behind the scenes at USAVE HQ by introducing the team. First up is Megan who joined the business over six years ago and is currently a Corporate Account Manager ensuring the smooth operation on behalf of a number of our clients. However, what you didn’t know is – ·        Megan should have grown up in the 80s as her favourite song is Purple Rain by Prince. ·        She had three interviews to take part in Mastermind with the chosen subject of ‘Hamilton the Musical’. Sadly, she didn’t get picked. ·        When she was young her dream job was to be a wallpaper stripper! Lucky for us Megan didn’t pick up the paintbrush😊

A big welcome to Salena who has joined our team!🙌 Salena graduated from the University of Strathclyde with a BA Hons in Finance before starting her career in sales administration. Latterly she was closely involved in customer service and invoice resolution. She takes up her new role as an Account Executive within our bureau team, with a focus on customer support particularly responding to daily billing and metering queries.

We are delighted to have formed an alliance with The Scottish Hospitality Group, which represents Scotland’s entrepreneurial family-owned hospitality businesses, to provide transparent energy savings advice to its members. The challenges facing the sector continues to be significant and many hospitality businesses have been severely impacted by receiving poor energy advice locking them into costly long-term contracts. Earlier this year Ofgem stepped in with new rules to support businesses including support to settle disputes with suppliers. Anthony Hale, Managing Director, said, “Energy contracts are full of complexities and are really difficult for business owners to navigate. It’s tricky to fully understand the market which is constantly changing. This is further compounded by misinformation and self-interested salespeople operating within our industry which is really unhelpful. We want to simplify energy for organisations and there are a variety of strategies we can implement to ensure the best interests of the business. “We have long admired the work the SHG delivers on behalf of its members and are delighted to be collaborating with the team to provide further benefits.” Stephen Montgomery, spokesperson for SHG, which represents members with a turnover in excess of £620,000 and over 5,000 employees said, "With utilities in many cases being one of the major costs to any hospitality business, it is important that we do everything we can to help and assist our members in saving on their utilities, so we are pleased to now welcome USAVE Utility Contracts as our utilities supplier partner, and we look forward to working closely with them.”
