#DYK that year-on-year, #digitaleconomy revenue in #SoutheastAsia is up by 14%, gross merchandise value is up by 15%, and profit is up by 24%? Recognizing these positive trends, the International Trade Administration, collaborating with the U.S. Department of State and the Government of #Singapore, organized a training program last month on the digital economy regulatory landscape. Held in Singapore, the program deepened understanding among government officials from all 10 #ASEAN Member States and #Timor-Leste in areas such as #dataprotection and privacy, #AI, combating online scams, and the #digitalization of micro, small, and medium enterprises (#MSMEs). The program also highlighted how U.S. #technology and service providers work to help the ASEAN region meet next-gen digital economy development goals securely and resiliently. Building on this training and other recent activities, our U.S. Commercial Service Singapore and U.S. Commercial Service ASEAN teams are eager to help U.S. firms pursue business opportunities and overcome business obstacles in these markets. We invite U.S. companies to contact our team at SelltoASEAN@trade.gov to explore digital economy, #digitalinfrastructure, and other commercial prospects in #SEAsia.

Congratulations to the City of San José on the 50th anniversary of Foreign Trade Zone #18. Our U.S. Commercial Service San Jose, CA director was proud to take part in the recognition. Last year, Silicon Valley FTZ operators saw $25 billion in activity, $6 billion in exports, and supported 30,000 jobs. FTZ #18 supports industries critical to America’s economic future — commercial satellites, electric vehicles, semiconductors, energy, electronic components, and more. America’s FTZs enable delayed or reduced duty payments on foreign merchandise, as well as other savings. We work with FTZs every day to grow #exports and advance America’s innovation economy.
