The Department of the Navy is establishing a Naval Strategic Studies Group (NSSG) program in January administered by the DON Office of Strategic Assessment (OSA). “I expect my seasoned, mid-grade officers to be brilliant on naval tactics and operations by the time they report for graduate education,” Del Toro said. “I need future flag and general officers who will think strategically about how to lead naval forces in an increasingly contested maritime domain and amidst intense economic, technological and military competition.” https://lnkd.in/ggaUV3WC

The Department of the Navy Foreign Area Officers Summit, held yesterday at the United States Naval Academy, is a unique opportunity for the community to come together. FAOs are strategically placed all over the world, often the lone representatives of not only the Navy and Marine Corps, but also of the United States. Our Navy and Marine Corps FAOs are critical enablers for the Fleet and Joint Force in deterring aggression and ensuring our success. In times of crisis, the true character of a Nation is revealed through the courage and resolve of its citizens. Time and time again over the past 248 years, our Sailors and Marines have proven the relentless valor, collective courage, and resilience of our people—across conflicts ranging from the Eastern Seaboard during the Revolutionary War to the islands of the Pacific and the submarine warfare of the Atlantic during World War II, and the Red Sea today. We will never forget those who gave everything in defense of our nation. We will continue to honor their legacy, and will always strive to live up to the examples of selfless service they set forth. This and every Memorial Day, we remember that freedom isn't free.

We will welcome USS Hamilton (FFG 66) to our fleet, honoring former Secretary of the Treasury and U.S. Coast Guard founder Alexander Hamilton.
