ICYMI: We launched a new, free, #HCTS course in partnership with the Texas Epidemic Public Health Institute (TEPHI). Health is an important but complicated topic. It can often seem like there is an overwhelming amount of information, ideas, facts, and rumors out there, and a lot of it contradicts other things we've been told. "Dealing with Conflicting Health Information" is a crash course in understanding types of conflicting information, why research can sometimes seem contradictory, and how to start civilized conversations about misunderstood health topics. Check it out! 👉 https://lnkd.in/gjTKBYVC

About us
The Center for Health Communication was established in 2014 to bring together researchers and experts on many diverse areas of health communication into one organizational unit where they can collaborate, share ideas and innovations, and advance their scholarship and its impact to the highest possible level. The CHC has more than 40 affiliated faculty and graduate students from across the university. As of April 2017, the CHC is officially a joint academic center of both the Moody College of Communication and Dell Medical School.

While rates of adolescent cigarette smoking have continued to decline, e-cigarette use among U.S. high school students increased from 1.5% to 27.5% between 2011 and 2019. Despite the known harms of #nicotine, adolescents and young adults may underestimate the harms associated with e-cigarette use. Educating youth on the impact of nicotine is an important component of keeping them #tobacco free. This week's #ThoughtfulThursday article explores the effectiveness of a point-of-sale e-cigarette #HealthCommunication campaign and tested messages focused on nicotine’s impact on brain development. 📖 https://buff.ly/4eqwFZL
