Established in 1877, the Virginia Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (VDACS) promotes the economic growth and development of Virginia agriculture, provides consumer protection and encourages environmental stewardship. The Virginia Food Access Investment Fund (VFAIF) grant round closes on Feb. 28. This program provides grants to support local food systems within new or expanding food retailers to address fresh food access issues in the state. Grant submissions from eligible projects in communities impacted by Hurricane Helene, or other recent natural disasters are encouraged.
