According to the Oklahoma State Election Board, Independents represent almost 20% of all registered voters in Oklahoma, but they aren't allowed to vote in the state's closed primary system. U.S. Army veteran and Veterans for All Voters volunteer, Kerri Keck, is advocating for change through State Question (SQ) 835. SQ 835 proposes: • All candidates appear on one unified ballot • Every registered voter can participate in primary elections • Top two candidates advance to the general election Reforms like these are not about benefiting one party or another; they’re about giving all Americans a voice and ensuring our elections are fair and competitive. Today, Veterans for All Voters honors the incredible life and legacy of President Jimmy Carter. From the high seas and the Oval Office, to the farm fields of Plains, Georgia, President Carter lived a life of steadfast service to his family, his state, and our great country. Last year, we were proud to have put together a special 100th birthday card for President Carter. His legacy of integrity, compassion, and tireless commitment to service continues to inspire us at VAV. His life reminds us that true public service is about bringing people together, not dividing them. Veterans for All Voters expresses our condolences to the Carter family during this time of remembrance and mourning.

We are grateful for an incredible experience at the 17th Annual Student Veterans of America National Conference! Veterans for All Voters had the privilege of connecting with so many passionate individuals and sharing our vision for electoral reform by engaging in meaningful discussions about how our veteran community can play a crucial role in shaping the future of our electoral system. Our team forged valuable connections and spread the word about our mission to advocate for election innovations that promote competition and reduce polarization. The energy and enthusiasm we encountered were truly inspiring! We also had the pleasure of hosting a successful happy hour event, providing an opportunity for veterans to connect further and discuss the importance of civic engagement. Are you a veteran or supporter passionate about improving our democracy? Join the VAV family and be part of our mission to create a more competitive and representative electoral system. Together, we can make a lasting impact on the future of our nation. Thank you for your incredible work Meredith Sumpter & Team FairVote. Onward!
Stars and Stripes, a longtime leading news source for the military community, published my piece on how #RankedChoiceVoting is making government work in Alaska. Being partly raised by a marine, this is an honor. “Ranked choice voting will keep growing because it works for voters and elected leaders who want to get things done — and voters know it.” Six southern states in the U.S. already use RCV for military and overseas voters, ensuring these Americans' votes count: Alabama, Arkansas, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi and South Carolina.

The National Association of Nonpartisan Reformers (NANR) Annual Summit was a great success! The Veterans for All Voters team and fellow reform organizations spent a few days last week reflecting on this year's achievements and challenges as we strategize for the future. Our mission remains the same: to create a fairer, more representative system that works for all of us! #ElectionReform #NANR2024 #VeteransForAllVoters #VeteranCommunity

Want to learn how to be more politically active without being politically divided? So do I. That was why I invited Eric Bronner to speak to our local group of CEOs on how to do just that. Eric is the co-founder and COO of Veterans for All Voters, a nonpartisan organization focused on empowering voters and reducing political polarization. He shares his experiences leading a national nonprofit and emphasizes leaders' crucial role in driving meaningful change. In this episode, we discuss: - The role of CEOs and business leaders to influence political reform by focusing on systemic change rather than taking partisan positions. - Growing frustration with political polarization and the need for nonpartisan solutions. - Systemic reforms like open primaries and ranked-choice voting as ways to depolarize the political landscape. - Why leadership requires teamwork and diverse expertise, not a solo approach. I learned a ton from Eric and hope you do, too. Link to watch in the comments ⬇ #EncouragingLeaders #LeadershipGrowth #EncourageYourLeaders

Saturday Spotlight One of our newest volunteers in Montana, Bethany West, decided to join this movement to "ensure that all veterans have a voice and the opportunity to contribute to our democratic process." Bethany captures the heart of our mission perfectly: "It's about continuing the fight, not with weapons, but through empowering our community and ensuring that every veteran's voice is heard and valued in shaping our nation's future." At Veterans for All Voters, we believe in leveraging the unique strengths of veterans to restore trust in our political system and drive meaningful election innovations. Join us in welcoming Bethany and all our dedicated volunteers who are committed to advocating for election innovations and empowering voters across the nation!
