What a ride! 🏆 The Pigeons’ first season in the VFX Football League has been one for the books. That's a wrap! Season 1 of the VFL is officially complete and what a season it has been... 10 VFX studios, 45 games, 180 goals and 2,450+ followers online. It's had everything from last minute winners, unbelievable comebacks and a 4 way title fight going into the final day. It couldn't have been scripted with more drama and to have won the league with Industrial Light & Magic was the cherry on top! It's been a tough year for the VFX community, so to be involved behind the scenes with the league has been a rewarding experience. Connecting employees from across the industry, building relationships through networking and socialising, positive physical and mental health benefits as well as fundraising for The Film and TV Charity. The league has gone from strength to strength and it's incredible to see how far we have come. Of course, none of this would have been possible without the support of so many people. The VFL board members, the team reps, the players, the studios, our wonderful sponsors Sohonet. A massive thank you to everyone involved! CHAMPIONS 🏆 Just last week, our first ever season reached its climax, and The Stormtroopers crowned as our first ever league champions. The 'Troopers finished off a brilliant campaign knowing a win on the final day was what was required to lift the title, and that's exactly what they did. The season surpassed all of our expectations for what to expect this year, which we can only thank all the teams who participated for their incredible spirit in making this season what it was 👏 We can't wait to go again next year, with more teams - more divisions ! And hopefully, more entertainment. All that's left in our calendar for 2024 is the ALL STARS GAME. 1 All star player has been selected from each team to face our league sponsors Sohonet in what should be a fantastic exhibition match. RESULT 🚨 Both teams went into the game with unlucky circumstances, knowing ILM had just stolen top spot with their win just moments before kick off. But a lot was still on the line for pride and glory. It was a tight game for most of the clock, but Union were determined and managed to secure 3 goals towards the very end. OOU were powerless to Unions brick wall defence and gave them no chances of getting through. A very entertaining match to see out the end of the season. 👏👏

RESULT 🚨🔥 The Stormtroopers came into the game knowing a win was required to crown them winners of our inaugural season Electric FC needed a shock upset in the 8PM game and a big win against The Stormtroopers in order to be sitting at the top of the pile come 9PM The Force was with the 'Troopers as they completed their imperial march to the title with an impressive 4 - 1 win against Electric FC Which crowns @ilmvfx VFX LEAGUE CHAMPIONS 2024 CONGRATULATIONS 🎊 👏 💐 🥳
