A holiday game of Corporate Transparency Act ping-pong: Yesterday (Dec. 26), a judge issued an order reversing the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals' earlier decision (Dec. 23) and reinstating the district court’s stay of the Corporate Transparency Act (CTA). What does this mean for dealers? As such, beneficial ownership (BOI) filings ARE NOT due by the extended January 13, 2025 deadline. We will inform you should the Fifth Circuit reverse course again. As of December 27, there is a national injunction against the filing requirements of the CTA and beneficial ownership reports are *not* due by January 13, 2025. VADA and our friends at the National Automobile Dealers Association (NADA) will continue to monitor the situation closely and provide updates as they develop.
