📢 Fighting for Fairness in State Contracting! 📢 Virginia Minority Chambers, Inc. CEO Samuel Wiggins and one of our partner chambers, the Northern Virginia Black Chamber of Commerce, were at the General Assembly in Richmond advocating for HB 1922 – Small SWaM Business Procurement Enhancement Program, introduced by Jeion A Ward For Delegate & Delegate Torian Luke. 🔎 Why it matters: ✅ Sets a 42% goal for Small, Women-, and Minority-Owned Businesses (SWaM) in state procurement. ✅ Requires a 3% annual increase in SWaM contracts. ✅ Creates a $100K set-aside for small SWaM businesses. ✅ Mandates a disparity study every 5 years to ensure accountability. 📣 With SWaM businesses receiving just 1.27% of VA’s $5B contracts, HB 1922 is a game-changer!
