Connecting Business with Opportunity
About us
The Virginia Peninsula Chamber (VPC) serves the business communities of Hampton Roads, the Cities of Newport News, Hampton, Poquoson, James City County, and York County and currently has a membership exceeding 1400 public and private members. The VPC is a business development chamber with the mission to "Connect Business with Opportunity". Core values are: Integrity, Relevance, Involvement and Sustainability. Facilitation, Advocacy, Communication, and Education are the strategies employed to achieve the organization's mission. Business enhancement, regional collaboration, public policy, leadership development (adult and youth), military advocacy, and pursuit of a regional entrepreneurial culture are just a few of the programmatic initiatives which the VPC pursues. The Virginia Peninsula Chamber traces its history back to its earliest records dating to 1898 where we find the Hampton Board of Trade and The Newport News Business Men's Association. In July of 1903 the Chamber of Commerce of Newport News was formed. In 1904 the Hampton Chamber of Commerce was established. In April of 1935, under the leadership of Lloyd Noland, Sr., the business organizations, under various names of Newport News, Hampton, Phoebus, Warwick, Williamsburg, James City County, York County, and Elizabeth City County consolidated to form the Virginia Peninsula Association of Commerce. In December 1958, the name changed to the Peninsula Chamber of Commerce. In September 1984, the name changed to (The) Virginia Peninsula Chamber of Commerce, and in 2022 the name changed to (The) Virginia Peninsula Chamber.

We are TWO WEEKS AWAY from our Rising Tide event on Thursday, March 20th, featuring a discussion on "Caregiving & Economic Impact". Our speakers/panelists include Mr. Bill Massey (Peninsula Agency On Aging Inc), Ms. Adelia Thompson (Peninsula Community Foundation), Dr. Jane Elyce Glasgow (Minus 9 To 5), and Dr. Jennifer Parish (Peake Childhood Center). The economic impact of caregiving is substantial, with significant implications at both ends of the caregiving spectrum: childcare and early childhood education on one side, and elder care on the other. These are foundational needs in our society—essential to the well-being of our children, our elderly, and ultimately, our workforce. The goal today is not only to identify the problems but also to open the door for meaningful conversations on how we can leverage our region’s strengths to provide practical, sustainable solutions. This event will be held from 7:30 AM - 9:30 AM at the Holiday Inn Newport News - Hampton. Tickets are $45, and sponsorships are available!
