🌊 Oyster Reef Restoration Milestone Achieved in Virginia! 🦪 We're excited to share that the Lower York River in Virginia became the eighth tributary restored under the Chesapeake Bay Program's ambitious goal to restore 10 tributaries by 2025. In collaboration with the Virginia Marine Resources Commission and NOAA, nearly nine acres of new stone reefs were built in 2023. With this, the total restored oyster reef acreage in the Chesapeake Bay now surpasses two square miles! These efforts are crucial for improving water quality, supporting marine biodiversity, and protecting our coastlines.
