We’ve uncovered 100+ more names and are piecing together their lives through death certificates, census records, oral histories, maps, and historic newspapers. Each discovery reconnects their names, their legacies, and their descendants. We had the incredible opportunity to share this work on CBS Texas, showing how we’re preserving and honoring Dallas' Tenth Street Historic District, the most intact Freedmen’s Town in the nation. What’s next? We’re mapping the cemetery and conducting ground-penetrating radar scans to locate unmarked graves.
