So, this happened yesterday:  Last week, I posted about the incredible event put on by Dick's Sporting Goods House of Sport and NFL Shaq Barrett for at-risk kids. Yesterday, when I visited one of the kids at the group home, she informed me that her sneakers felt too small and gave them to me to give back to the store. I let her know that Dick's would be happy to exchange them for a size that fits you.  "For real," she questioned with a big smile. So, I asked the staff if I could take some kids to the mall to exchange the shoes. We got to the store counter, and Dick's rep told the kid to find her size in that shoe, a comparable pair of sneakers, or pick out items equaled to the store credit Dick's would give her.  As we turned to go search for items, the kid said to me, "I want to do something nice for people." She tells Dick's rep she wanted snacks, and we were both like, "Snacks"? The kid tells us that she wanted to do something nice for others because someone did something nice for her.  So she exchanged those new pair of Nike shoes for a cart full of snacks, and I stood back and watched her go through Dick's and the mall, letting people know something nice happened to her, and that she had free items to share with their kid.  You should have seen the little children's excitement and some stunned looks with smiles from teens. One parent was very moved and stated she had a rough day, and this kindness changed it for the better. This young lady was so happy and said giving to people was so much fun. Even though those sneakers represented almost half the store credit Dick's and Shaq gave her that night, I can tell she will cherish that moment of her being able to give for a lifetime.
