We are giving thanks to the Swagelok team at Old South Miles Plant! They held a car show this summer to raise money to support the well-being of veterans at our Cleveland Veterans Resource Center. Thank you for giving back to those who served!

About us
We're a national, non-profit, faith-based organization dedicated to helping those in need rebuild their lives and reach their full potential. Through thousands of human services programs, including housing and healthcare, Volunteers of America helps nearly 2 million people across the country – more than 23,000 in Ohio and indiana. Established locally in 1896, our ministry of service has supported and empowered America’s most vulnerable groups including at-risk youth, the frail elderly, men and women returning from prison, homeless individuals and families, people with disabilities, and those recovering from addictions. Our work touches the mind, body, heart – and ultimately the spirit – of those we serve, integrating our deep compassion with highly effective programs and services.

The Home Depot Foundation and #TeamDepot volunteers took on improvements at our Veterans Resource Center in Cincinnati through the #OperationSurprise initiative.! We cannot thank #TeamDepot enough for making much needed upgrades including staining a fence, landscaping the courtyard garden, setting up new picnic tables, and updating our sign. #TeamDepot is always there for veterans in need.

Words matter! Break the stigma of how we talk about suicide. Veteran suicide rates continue to increase. Using language that is compassionate and understanding can reduce suicide risk. The SSG Fox Suicide Prevention Program offers community-based services to reduce suicide risk and improve the overall well-being of veterans, service members, and their families. This Veterans Day, Union Home Mortgage Corp. shared their commitment to housing with homeless veterans. Union Home Mortgage’s belief in the power of “home” has become part of a strong foundation of hope for veterans in Greater Cleveland to rely on. Thank you, UHM, for helping veterans rebuild their lives. Because of you, more veterans will be at peace in their own home this holiday season.

Clients in our women's residential reentry program in Mansfield are thankful for their counselor Chelsea! Chelsea decorated the group room with a Thanksgiving theme promoting recovery and the chance to grow and thrive in their community after incarceration. Our SSG Fox Suicide Prevention team along with other VOA staff members joined 450 runners at the REVS22 race to end veteran suicide. The race raised about $30,000 for veteran emergency financial assistance and one of their biggest turnouts ever! The event was in partnership with the Lorain County Veterans Service Commission. Thank you to everyone who came out to support efforts to reduce veteran suicide. Pictured left to right: Becky Carlino, Rebecca Hudacko, LaRaun T.
