Two weeks ago our co-founder, Rod Smith attended the Hustle Conference. We gained a few insightful perspectives on entrepreneurship and business today. Franziska Iseli’s message was all about embracing the journey, not the destination. While this is often a romanticized notion, especially from those who’ve already exited, it’s important to acknowledge that day-to-day struggles are very real for active entrepreneurs. Jay Wilkinson emphasized the positive potential of capitalism, citing movements like DO MORE GOOD as key drivers for change in the business world. He’s confident this impact will only grow. Lewis Schiff Lewis Schiff delivered the standout talk, highlighting that now is the best time to be an entrepreneur. There’s more capital available than ever, but fewer companies for private equity firms to invest in. He pointed out that intellectual property and assets are now valued more than labor, a major shift after 100 years. Entrepreneurs looking to exit must understand the capital markets, capitalize on financial model shifts, prioritize revenue scaling over time-based work, and grow their management teams. The bottom line? Investors are looking for $2M+ in profits—size matters in these markets. All in all, they are great folks with great ideas. 10/10 Volano Software will join again next year—excited to see where this goes. And it's a huge win for the Omaha community as a whole.
