In the aftermath of the Los Angeles wildfires, the Volvo For Life Fund is donating to our global partner Save the Children International to help reopen childcare and early learning centres. The recent Los Angeles wildfires have severely disrupted daily life for residents, including school children. Save the Children is addressing immediate needs, helping childcare providers re-open, and offering mental health support to children.  The Volvo For Life Fund will support ten childcare and early learning centres in purchasing the educational supplies, furniture and equipment needed to reopen.  This follows Volvo Car USA’s $100,000 donation to Baby2Baby, which provides emergency supplies to affected parents and babies. The Volvo For Life Fund aims to positively impact a million lives over time by supporting community initiatives where we operate. We hope this effort will help make an immediate, positive difference in the lives of the affected school children.

  • Volvo Car USA stands with the LA community as the heartbreaking devastation of the wildfires continues. We are proud to support fire relief efforts along with our generous Southern California retailer partners through a combined $100,000 donation to our longtime nonprofit partner Baby2Baby. These funds will help aid in distribution of emergency supplies for the most vulnerable children and families who have lost everything including diapers, food, formula, water, clothing, blankets and hygiene products. Local Volvo Car USA employees also stepped in earlier this week to work alongside Baby2Baby volunteers to support on-the-ground efforts, including packing more than 200 hygiene kits that included shampoo and conditioner, deodorant, toothbrushes, wipes and a child’s toy. For anyone impacted by the fires in the Los Angeles area, we are offering assistance of $1,000 toward the purchase or lease of a new Volvo car. In addition, we are offering payment flexibility for our qualified Volvo Car Financial Services customers impacted by the fires. For more information, please reach out to your local Volvo retailer. LA’s rebuilding will take time and we are exploring additional ways to continue our support for the long term. We have no doubt the community will build back stronger than ever.

CEO North America listens to Michael Cottone to understand how Volvo Cars are raising their electrification game across North America while leading the world in safety. From its South Carolina plant, Volvo is expanding its fleet of hybrid and EV models in an effort to reach its new goal of electrified cars making up at least 90% of global sales. “We are really taking a big leap when it comes to tech from electrification and technology. I think we were one of the 1st brands to talk about being a fully electric brand.” Read more here: https://lnkd.in/egMHCeZ8

A longtime Volvo Cars customer, I joined this brand because I believe in all that it stands for: safety, family, human-centered design. In creating this ad for our flagship EX90, we wanted to celebrate Volvo Cars’ core value of safety and our relentless focus on improving it – for this generation and the next. With the tagline “sometimes the moments that never happen matter the most”, we set out to highlight the story of a family and the beautiful moments they experience over the years, because of the car accident that didn't happen. Guillaume Huin: from one marketer to another, thank you for appreciating the unconventional choices we made to bring this story to life. Much gratitude & kudos to our amazing brand, comms & marketing teams that made it happen.

Volvo posted a 3 min and 46 second ad on Instagram, shot by Hoyte Van Hoytema, the cinematographer of Interstellar and Oppenheimer. It goes against every single rule you can think about as a social lead. Length. Format. Over-produced. I know I would not have approved it. Every comment under the ad said it immediately put Volvo in their consideration set. It's fucking fantastic.

  • This week we announced that Volvo cars will gain access to more than 17,800 NACS charging points this November through the Tesla Supercharger Network, continuing our journey to electrification. These new additional charging points create more flexibility for drivers of our fully electric vehicles, including the new EX90 flagship SUV. Adapters will begin shipping on November 18.   https://lnkd.in/ebv2PdMq

  • Volvo Cars has proudly been a leader in automotive safety for decades. From the three-point safety belt to our new Superset technology stack, we have a legacy of tech-driven safety.     As technology has evolved, so have we. Today, data is key to informing our safety approach – just ask Alwin Bakkenes, Head of Software Engineering, who recently shared this sentiment with Newsweek’s Jake Lingeman.    “We talk about relentless progress. We want to be relentless about optimizing and improving over time. The whole key to this is data.”    The impact? This leads to improved quality, increased speed-to-market and vehicles that improve over time. For our drivers, this means their vehicles continuously get safer and more capable.    Read more about our tech-driven safety here: https://lnkd.in/eBq7jSsG    #VolvoCars

Today was a busy and important day in the history of our company.    We announced that our new flagship SUV, the fully electric EX90, is ready and on the road. The first batch of EX90 cars are being shipped to our retailers in the US and Europe right now, and the first customers will get their cars before the end of this month. We will ramp up deliveries to more markets between the fourth quarter of this year and the first quarter of 2025.    We also revealed a new and improved Volvo XC90. Thanks to a broad suite of technology and design updates inside and out, our award-winning and best-selling hybrid SUV is now better than ever before. While a new, more contemporary exterior design reinforces the car’s confident look, the biggest news is inside, where a renewed interior enhances both practicality and user experience.    In addition, we announced that a new-generation user experience will be available in our new XC90 SUV, and in millions of other Volvo cars worldwide. Next year, around 2.5 million of our customers around the globe will receive an upgrade on their Volvo cars built as early as 2020 – all in line with our strategy to make our cars better over time with regular over-the-air software updates.  To top off the event, we offered those who stayed around until the end of the show a first look at our next fully electric model, the Volvo ES90...Finally, we slightly adjusted the timeline on some of our electrification and sustainability ambitions. Our commitment to full electrification and sustainability remains firm and industry-leading, but in light of changing market conditions and customer demands, we now aim for 90-100 per cent of our global sales to be electrified by 2030.
