    Cannabis & Campgrounds. Digital Marketing.

Michigan continues to be one of the best examples of a state-legal cannabis market in the U.S. In total, the state collected more than $290.3 million in excise cannabis taxes for the 2023 fiscal year with 1/3rd going to muncipalities that have opted into retail cannabis and the other 2/3rds being split between funding K-12 schools and road infrastructure. For example, the city of Detroit alone received almost $2m from cannabis taxes in 2023. Marquette County, with a population of ~100k people, received $886k split across 7 local government units. Not only does brick and mortar increase economic development and bring jobs, but it also brings in serious incremental tax revenue for areas that have opt-ed into the state program. This is exactly why it's important to support retailers over marketplaces that also offer delivery. Do not let our cannabis industry get DoorDash'd.

Helping good people grow great businesses since 1996

How do you perceive cannabis in the realm of health and wellness? 👀 In the ever-evolving landscape of health and wellness, cannabis has sparked conversations, controversies, and curiosities. 🌿 Here's a distilled essence of how cannabis interacts with our health, minus the smoke and mirrors: 1. Pain Management Pioneer - Chronic pain is a colossal challenger for millions. Cannabis steps in as a potential natural alternative to traditional painkillers, especially for neuropathic pain. 2. Anxiety & Stress Soother - In a world that never hits pause, cannabis offers a moment of calm. Low doses can act as a mild sedative, reducing anxiety levels. 3. Sleep Cycle Regulator - Battling insomnia? Cannabis might be the lullaby you need. Certain strains are known to promote relaxation and help usher in a more restful sleep. 4. Inflammation & Swell Reduction - The anti-inflammatory properties of cannabinoids can play a role in soothing inflammation, offering relief in conditions like arthritis. 5. Neuroprotective Potential - There's emerging evidence that cannabis has neuroprotective properties, which could be beneficial in neurodegenerative diseases like Alzheimer's and Parkinson's. 6. Appetite Igniter - For those struggling with appetite, especially due to chemotherapy or other treatments, cannabis can help turn the hunger switch back on. 7. Mental Health Matters - While cannabis can offer short-term relief from symptoms of mental health conditions like depression, it's a double-edged sword. The key is responsible and moderated use. → Caution on the Horizon: It's not all green pastures. Overuse or dependence on cannabis can lead to adverse effects, including mental health issues and cognitive impairments. Like any medicine or therapeutic agent, moderation and medical guidance are the mantra. Have you or someone you know found it beneficial or detrimental? Richard 😎

    Raising & Selling 📈 $1B+ Raised 💰 22 Companies Sold 🤝

What’s one decision first time founders can make hastily and regret eternally? Who gets on the board. Picking your board is NOT like picking 5v5 basketball. It’s incredibly nuanced and extremely important. And it gets underestimated ALL THE TIME! Here's a dive into: → Why the board matters → Who belongs on it  → Common pitfalls WHAT DOES A BOARD DO? 1. Guidance and Governance A board steers the company forwards by:  → Adopting sound governance → Financial management policies → Making decisions on major issues 2. Accountability A board ensures the leadership is accountable and nudges them towards their strategic objectives. SO WHO DO YOU CHOOSE?? → Industry Veterans Individuals with DEEP industry specific knowledge can provide excellent insights, strategies and connections. → Financial Experts Board members are essential in financial planning and helping navigate economic challenges. → Legal Eagles Seems obvious, but it’s useful to have a legal eagle to foresee and navigate the legal ramifications of business decisions. → Innovators It’s good to have at least one innovative thinker to bring fresh perspectives to the table. And they should ALL be able to write a check. Asking this at the top of the discussion sorts the wheat from the chaff. MISTAKES I SEE A LOT → Misalignment of interests Board members NEED to share your company's vision, not just bring expertise. → Overlooking diversity A board with diverse backgrounds and perspectives fosters better decision-making. → Picking someone considered “weak” I’ve lost count of the # of times I’ve seen an investor or CEO put someone on the board who they think they can control. That individual ALWAYS votes in the best interest of themselves and the shareholders… — Crafting the right board is an ART and a SCIENCE. It's about balancing expertise, personality, and vision to forge a path to success. The right board can be your company’s greatest asset. Share a board member story to demonstrate their value. — I’ve been part of assembling dozens of boards and have sat on many myself. If you need help navigating this for your start-up, send me a DM. #boardofdirectors #board

Venturing into the #cannabisindustry in Minnesota presents a ripe opportunity, especially after the passing of HF100 last year. ⤶ This landmark legislation not only legalizes adult-use cannabis but also sets the stage for a comprehensive regulatory framework under the newly established Office of Cannabis Management. ⤷ With 16 diverse license types soon available in 2025, entrepreneurs will have a unique opportunity to carve out their niche in this flourishing sector. HF100 is more than just a law; it's a gateway to the burgeoning cannabis industry in Minnesota, laying down the rules for licensing, cultivation, manufacturing, and retailing. The Office of Cannabis Management stands at the helm, ensuring compliance, overseeing licensing, and fostering a craft industry that outshines the illicit market. In addition, as of August 1st, 2023, possession of cannabis in modest amounts becomes legal, setting a new precedent for personal use and cultivation within the state. For those eyeing the retail side, dispensaries—or "Retailers" as termed legally—face certain limitations but also enjoy the perk of operating up to five locations under a single Cannabis mezzobusiness license. 👀 🚧 The path to opening a dispensary involves navigating through a maze of licensing fees and regulatory compliances, with initial costs ranging significantly based on the type of #cannabisbusiness . Each category has its own financial commitments and operational guidelines, from micro to mezzo businesses and cultivators to retailers. For those ready to embark on this green journey, the time to strategize and plan is now. With the legal landscape taking shape and the market poised for growth, Minnesota's cannabis industry is beckoning entrepreneurs to join the revolution. 💡 Your next move could shape the future of cannabis in Minnesota. What path will you choose?
